A garden fit for the birds

We spent two nights at my brother-in-law’s place and I took these photos in his garden. The recent rains have been lapped up by the plants and they are all thriving and blooming like you wouldn’t believe. He has a lot of native plants in his garden and the birds are there in their dozens. We celebrated our niece’s birthday on Wednesday evening then went to an Eric Bogle concert on Thursday so I’m heading off for a nap once I post this. I’ll write more about the concert another time. We’re supposed to be heading off in the motor-home on Sunday so it’s a busy time for us at the moment as I’m also trying to sort out an injection I need.

Those are lovely photos and I'm sure the plants are even nicer in real life. I hope everything goes well with your shot and the upcoming trip is relaxing and enjoyable.

Thanks. The injection is sorted and while it might be a bit wet travelling tomorrow, the weather should clear after that.

@JudyEv Fruit trees and birdbaths attract birds but I think flowers will attract butterflies.

@allknowing There were certainly plenty of bees feasting on the flowers.

There is a lemon, lime and mandarin plus some native trees. The birdbaths are very popular.

I'm sorry about the photos. Is it because there are four and they're a bit small? I'll add one here from a previous visit. Hopefully it's a bit clearer.

It just be so nice to be near the garden, just to listen to the birds chirping happily and enjoying their song. Good luck with getting the injection figured out before you leave.

@JudyEv That is great that you received the injection, now for the weather to straighten out in your area so that you can get away tomorrow and have a great time. The outdoor wedding is later on today. Yesterday we had high winds (70-90 km) warning, I hope that they subside and do not return.

@Juliaacv High winds at an outdoor wedding could be problematic. I hope the winds stay away.

@JudyEv - Our garden was also 1/4 acre, that is considered "big" in Switzerland.

@LadyDuck When I was growing up, most town blocks were 1/4 acre in size. That would be very unusual now.

Compared to today's building blocks, his is quite large. I think it is almost 1/4 acre. It is nice to wander through and see all the plants in bloom.

Do you mean birds? I can't find my photos of the BIL's birdbath but Vince took this one. It's called a 'silver-eye'.

We did, thanks. It's hard to get the colours true-to-life with wildflowers sometimes. This looked spectacular in the garden but is a bit insipid here.

@JudyEv You're welcome. I just had a bone density test; and I just have osteopenia. I just need to continue taking my calcium supplemented with calcium-rich foods and taking my D3.
