Donate, Throw Away or Save?

Recently I have gotten it into my head that I should get rid of a lot of things that I'm accumulating at home. Basically because I feel like the more I accumulate I'm blocking the way I also receive new things because we always have the mentality that if something continues to work even if it's in bad shape Bad conditions, so we look for a way to keep that object there. I'd like to ask you, my friend from Mylot. If you had something at home that was already wearing out, what would you do? Donate, throw away, or save it?

It depends... Can you fix the thing that is wearing out? If you can fix it and it will still work okay, then fix it instead of throwing it away. If you need to replace the item, then throw it away. You only donate something that is still in good shape so the next person who gets it won't be ashamed to own it and can still get good use from it. (Like old clothes that are in good shape but you're tired of them, donate those.)

Yes I agree with you but sometimes I see some programs like hoarders and I feel that there are people who feel a very special attachment to things that they even think are still useful. For example, I am not capable of donating a shirt that already has holes in it. I think you have to recognize when it is time to throw it away; no one else will even use it.

@YuleimaVzla One of my brothers was a hoarder. He had a houseful of things he bought and didn't need. He wouldn't even take the things out of the bag after he bought it. He had piles of brand new things that ha never opened. It was weird. When he passed away during the pandemic, it was all wasted.

I’m going to use what I have until it wears out, probably. I’d never give anything away that was on its last leg. I’d donate clothes that I’ve had forever if they are still in good shape though. Which reminds me I have some clothes and shoes that need to be donated. They were free and brand new, but the shoes don’t fit right, and the clothes make me look like a wannabe rapper.

Hahaha, a rapper! Snoop Dogg, you made me laugh, but it's really like that. There are things that only have a small defect and obviously still work, but there are things that people insist on giving you. Even in very bad condition and I think it's more of a way to get rid of your trash

I try to make rags out of used clothing that is in bad shape. I did toss something the other day because I was tired of dealing with it and no one would want it . I do donate when I can though.

I do have something that could easily be given away but the question is to whom?

I typically just throw stuff out. I do bring clothes to work because we have a "store" for students to get clothes, shoes, personal care items, etc. for free if they need them.

Really, it depends on what it is. When I look around the house, sometimes I wonder how much money is just lying around. There are a lot of things I could sell. We donate some things and sell others. But again, it depends on what it is.

You're right, everything is relative. My personal experience is that I accumulated many things because I felt that everything had a value and I felt disloyal if I voted for even a small rock.

Good question, I just throw them out. Nothing good enough to donate.

When my relatives have to get rid of items like clothing, it is given to a local charity.
