Thinking we have a date

Either I was foolish or intelligent or smart. I went on Nextdoor and announced to the world that hubby and I would pay a safe driver for their taking us to see my sister. This is the sister who developed dementia- the sister who is demented is another story. So Demented stuck sister who has dementia into a Home. Demented got into a fued with dementia's daughter and basically stuck her into the Home, saying that daughter didn't know what she was doing etc. etc. So.....I stopped speaking to Demented. I need to speak to my ill sister. I found out where she is. I am not telling the sister who started this that I found a ride to see the ill sister. A woman answered my plea on NextDoor: she lives maybe a mile from us. She used to live in the city where my sister is! Her Mother is still there. She says she can handle the long freeway drive. She would love to have social security boosted with our money. A week from tomorrow morning we will head out. She says it is a three hour drive. If I was driving it would be 5 hours. Wish us luck.

I know it is not necessarily something you wanted to do with the sister who has developed dementia, but it sounds as if this is a good person to know and you all might have a nice visit.

I hope your visit goes well, and you can feel some peace about your sister. My uncle was the first in my dad's family to develop dementia. I went with my dad to visit him. My dad (for some reason) kept asking his brother, "Do you know who I am?) Finally my uncle said, "Yes of course I know who you are Sam. Do you know who you are?". It was nice to see that he still had his sense of humour.

I’m so glad you found a ride to take you! I hate driving on our city freeway. If I have to go further than 30 minutes, I usually ask for a ride. I’m also glad you found out where the sister had been placed. Good luck!

@AmbiePam Thanks. Same state but the huge but: there is Tacoma then Seattle traffic and keep going- Everett traffic. Sweet and glorious the further north, though: fir trees and farm land and memories and then turn West toward the ocean. More memories. And my sisters. One I will talk to. One I won't.

Great news that you have found someone to drive you to see your sister. I hope the trip and the visit go well. I think you are doing right not telling your other sister.
