Security officials at Evanston High School in Illinois called 911 to report the presence of a small hog that escaped from a child's birthday party on Saturday August 9 to the high school.
Evanston Police Officers Daniel Pack and Officer Jaclyn Roden were able to catch the 30 pound hog quickly and remove the hog to the Evanston Animal Shelter where Vicky Pasenko who is the executive director of the facility did mention that adults from the birthday party came to take back the hog but since the hog did not belong to them, the hog would be taken to another facility since hogs are not allowed to be kept as pets in Evanston.
Since the hog was rented by the adults, the hog will be taken to the owner or be placed in a new home according to game warden Perry Kubala.
I find it very odd for anyone who would rent a hog to be part of a child's birthday party since normally clowns are invited to entertain children at birthday parties.

I think the little piggy was no doubt terrified and ran away from the party.

I don't think animals like this belong at parties, somehow.

He obviously wants to be the school’s mascot! (And maybe he escaped the birthday party out of fear that he was going to be part of the bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches!

As if the kids needed something more to distract them from their schoolwork. How fun. Some people just like hogs.

Maybe they just wanted to go the whole hog, at that birthday party.

Maybe the children like to pet and play with the animals. Some parents who can afford it set up a petting zoo for birthday parties.

You are right that the parents hired the hog as a play for the child.
