Adventures with no power

When it rains it pours. (no pun intended) The rain caused the power to go out and when it was restored a transformer blew. We’ve had no power since 4am apparently and they haven’t even started working on it yet. Initially they had all of the students in the arena but now we are in class. . . In the dark. They can’t dismiss us early.
But what is crazy is the stupid tuen of events this morning for me. First I decided to just fill my Stanley with ice and fill it at work so my bag would be lighter. Then I decided to bring my egg bites and eat them on my 2nd period prep. Okay so no power for the microwave to heat them up. No power for the water filling station. And for some reason I forgot to plug in my Chromebook yesterday so that’s dead.
I had students bring down games from my old room so some of them played Jenga and UNO. I’m going to try to just lecture in the dark to finish off the notes for the rest of the day. We’ll see how that goes.

If you don't mind, why can't the school dismiss early? I'd consider this a wasted day, myself.
I hope the students enjoy playing games in the dark.

Good day to talk about the discovery of electricity, though.

It's alway something! It'll probably come back on in time for dismissal.

What a waste of time. Too bad you couldn't go home.

What a strange day. I am surprised they can keep the students (and teachers) there with no drinking water. We had our water shut off in my area for one morning, and they closed the schools and sent everyone home. But maybe that was because they had no water at all? No working toilets without water...and it was a hot day, I don't know if they had bottled water for an entire day, either.
It's good you have games and a few things for them to do.

I'm dumbfounded that school is still in session with no power and you're all in the dark. Your day certainly didn't start off very well. Hope the power comes back on soon and your day gets better.
