Morning or Afternoon Appointments

I was telling snowy I had a doctor’s appointment at 10am, and I wish I had been able to go earlier. I’m an early riser for the most part so I schedule my appointments in the morning if possible. That way people don’t have a chance to get behind and I end up waiting for hours on end (my back does not tolerate it). The doctor this morning (NOT my primary) sometimes comes in an hour late anyway so I could be waiting even then (I can’t switch doctors at this moment). Of course, sometimes you have no choice. Do you prefer your appointments in the morning or afternoon?

I usually ask for the first appointment, no matter if early in the morning or soon after lunch break. Doctors are often late.

@AmbiePam - At least I do not have to wait until the previous patient gets out.

Didn't you just write this same discussion a few days ago?. If not you someone did. Usually afternoon. I dislike racing around in the morning.

I don't understand... Why are you racing around only if you have an early appointment?

I prefer early morning appointments as there is less of a chance that they are running behind. My next appointment is the first of the day, at 8am, at one of the hospitals here in the city, for my annual scope. I'll get it over before I am fully awake and can get so embarassed.

I'm always awake all night so prefer to get early morning appointments and can go straight to bed when we get home again. Pretty, on the other hand, is always awake all night so wants to sleep in the mornings so wants the latest appointment in the afternoon/evening she can get them. (I had to make her stop getting appointments if it will be getting dark by the time her appointments are over because I can't see well in the dark to drive home again. It scares me.)

I don’t have a disease that affects my eyes, and driving in the dark scares me! My night vision is not good.

@AmbiePam Last time she did that, I told her to walk or make the appointments earlier in the daytime. She can always make them as late as she wants and just get the medical taxi to take her back and forth... The problem there is that she gives them MY phone number to call so they call me and I have to call her to tell her when they're waiting outside to pick her up. *sigh* I told the last one that called me that she had already left for her appointment. It wasn't until she called asking if they were coming to pick her up that I found out they only want one phone number so she gives them mine. And I have to relay the calls between them. They always wake me up trying to talk to her.

At the moment having hospital appointments I go for a time around 10.30 as we have to get ready and get a taxi. Usually at the Dr’s I like early appointment times.

That’s not too bad of a time. Hopefully, they aren’t too far behind by them.

@AmbiePam I only had one time when we were waiting 5 hours. All other times it’s not been too bad.

I’m flexible with the schedule—I can do either morning or afternoon, depending on my availability. If I have something important in the morning, I prefer the afternoon, and if I’m busy in the afternoon, then morning works better.

I’ll take anything 10 AM or later. I prefer after lunch…except when they’re weighing me, then they’re weighing the 3-4 glasses of tea I drink.

Oh, I know. I always want to tell them to take a half pound off for what I ate and drank that morning.

I don’t really have a preference as long as it’s not terribly late in the day.

I like late morning ones. But my doctor is good about not keeping you waiting.

I prefer them early to get them out of the way but Vince has a long procedure this morning and my appointment is now at 4.40pm. It will be peak-hour traffic by then too.

I agree, they are less likely to be behind in the morning. Except, my doctor can be called to the hospital. Then she'll be behind if that happens first thing.

I always try for appointments for about 1 PM, So often if it's for the son, he doesn't sleep well at all (and then of course I can't, either!) and then the morning he is too draggy to go anywhere, so early afternoon works best for us at this time.

@AmbiePam I usually just ask for the first available appointment after lunch, and it's almost always 1 PM or 1:30 PM, so that works out well.

I prefer morning, but usually my primary care provider isn't available for a month when I call So I've been seeing a lot of other people lately. As you know, recently (though it wouldn't have been my choice) I had a evening appointment.

I prefer later morning or afternoon but not too late in the afternoon. I don't sleep well and very hard to get up and leave early.
