Trump almost got it right. May Charlie Kirk rest in peace.

I had to watch Trump's reaction to the murder of Charlie Kirk, a young Conservative "influencer" who was shot to death while engaging in a discussion on a University campus. At first, Trump's words resonated with me. Anybody who enjoys respectful debate is OK with me, even if I may disagree with some of their beliefs. After two minutes, I decided to write a post about how Trump had finally found that common ground that could appeal to both Liberals and Conservatives. We should engage in constructive dialogue. We should not shoot at each other or hurl ad hominem insults. But I decided to watch the last two minutes of the of the speech. My heart sank. Trump could not help but tie in the murder with "the radical Left." He politicized the death of a young man who could have had a great life in front of him. So far as I know (correct me if I am behind the news--I'm just waking up), the shooter has not yet been captured or even identified. He could be a Liberal. He could be a Conservative, like the young man who shot at Trump and killed a fireman. We have to figure out what went wrong and try to fix it. Blaming others is not helpful. RIP, Charlie Kirk.

I assume someone else wrote the "speech," with Trump coaching.

@TheHorse It is incredible to me that he is already blaming a "radical left Democrat" for the shooting when no one has been apprehended yet. It is like a reflex with him and just red meat for his MAGA base. If you hadn't written about this I would have.

That was just so sad. I really fear for America. Things seem to be getting worse, not better.

Things are difficult here. But I don't feel threatened on a daily basis. And I have saved enough money that I can absorb the higher cost of things like groceries under Trump. I can still play music and hang out with my friends and colleagues.

@JudyEv Bush II cost me a lot of money. And Trump I cost me my jobs. But I am still here,

Yes, indeed. Constructive dialogue is so important. Immaturity and ego get in the way so many times. I so agree with you. Figure out what went wrong and try to fix it. I'm glad that he made some sense for a change.

I would not be surprsed if someone else wrote the speech, with him "coaching."

Just now
Our newspapers showed the photos of the person FBI believed did the shooting. For the moment they do not know who he is, but they are offering $ 100,000 to identify this young man, so I am sure someone will "sell" him.

We need to deal better with mental health issues in the US. But we're such a large Country. It's difficult.
