What, they say it might rain, after yesterday saying no rain for a month? Oh well, we need it. Trees are already turning, which is what they call “drought stress.” I don’t know why, we have little to no rainfall every September. The song title for today’s slower dancing song for @rebelann isn’t the temperature, either! Here it is.

The song was inspired by futuristic novels and movies (the video is modeled after a scene in THX 1138, an early and rare George Lucas flop) about no-name societies and people acting like robots.
Fun trivia: David Paich, Toto’s pianist and the writer of this song, won a Grammy in 1977 for co-writing Boz Scaggs’ breakthrough hit “Lowdown.”

Funny how the weather reports can change so quickly! If you do get rain, hopefully it helps the trees a bit with that drought stress. I hadn’t heard much about the story behind Toto’s “99” before — really interesting how it connects to sci-fi themes and even THX 1138. Amazing too that David Paich had already made his mark with Boz Scaggs before Toto. Thanks for sharing the trivia, I always enjoy learning the little details behind songs.
