For some reason my back decided to scream at me yesterday. OUCH! But it actually came at a great time, if it had to happen: I have an appointment today. Also today we get to have a less-rocking song by the guy who was banned from the waist down on TV because he rocked TOO much. That’s the general theme of this month, dedicated to @rebelann (our myLotter from Texas, who’s being a great sport about this ). Let’s go with today’s song. She’s Not You - Elvis Presley What?? Elvis doing a 4/4 shuffle???? Man, you put a steel and three fiddles on this song and you’ve got a Ray Price tune! I can’t help but love this song (the shuffle feel of the song aside). My mom had Elvis records when I was little, and this was on one of them. Elvis wasn’t all, as Warren Zevon once sang, “hip shakin’, shoutin’ in gold lamé.” She’s Not You Written by Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller, and Doc Pomus Recorded by Elvis Presley Released as a single, 1962 And when we’re dancing:

Didn't he do a lotta ballads? I almost got to see him from a distance when I was about 8 but at the time I had no idea who my mom was so crazy to see, we were standing on the balcony of the housing apt dad got when he was stationed there in the late 1950s. Needless to say we didn't see much and mom was disappointed.

Yeah, what I recall is seeing a bunch of what looked like crazed women etc following a uniformed figure but that was in 1958 when he apparently went to propose to Priscila or so the news said the next day. Dad was stationed in Butzbach Germany at the time

He actually did do quite a few ballads (like “Are You Lonesome Tonight” and “Love Me Tender”). At least you got to see something!

I appreciate that I have my mama’s 45’s of Elvis. I have enjoyed his music and old movies over the years.

I don’t think any singer is universally loved; however, Elvis is pretty close.

@FourWalls He passed away about the time that I was getting into his music, but I had watched his movies as a child. I still enjoy catching one.
