People are coming all out of the woodwork about the baking club

I mean my coworkers. I'm pretty quiet at work and stay to myself as much as possible (aside from talking to my work BFF). I try to avoid the teacher's room (not possible this year) and I don't go to after-school or evening events aside from the obnoxious Back To School Night. That being said I do regularly leave homemade baked goods in the teacher's room and also contribute to staff fundraisers when we make soup, baked items, etc. Anyone who has worked there for more than a couple of years knows my reputation in the kitchen. Anyway the word that I took over the Baking Club seems to have spread throughout the building. The announcement about the first meeting has been read each morning for the past week too. It was also listed in a document that listed all of the various clubs and their advisors. At least a dozen people have come up to me to comment on how great they think I will be as the advisor including an assistant principal and the building principal. One coworker told me to make banana bread for her. I said that I would but it would take about a week because I had to get the bananas and then let them get really ripe. I appreciate everyone's confidence in me but I think they are overestimating my abilities.

We will be doing monthly bake sales to raise funds. There also is already money in the account. For some things (cookie swaps, decorating contests) the students will be buying the stuff themselves.

I think this is just wonderful, and yet I am not at all surprised at all. Your passion is in the kitchen, when the pools season isn't on, and you have such a generosity about yourself, leaving your co-workers treats in the staff room. You will instill alot more than just how to measure, stir and bake, but how to warm a person's heart as you do naturally.

Of course, I haven't actually tried anything you've made, but you talk a good game, at least. I'm positive everything will be fine and you'll do a good job.

Uh, no. They are not overestimating you at all. I imagine you are going to be overloaded with requests now of things to make. This is exciting (as long as they don’t overwork you)!

Just now
I'm pretty sure they are right in all their assumptions about your cooking/baking.
