A Magnificent Sunset

Yesterday evening, my girlfriend and I decided to stop by a food truck rally on the side of a busy road in the center of our city. They have the food trucks set up every Friday on this particular stretch of road, and we've always wanted to try some of the food offerings, but with it still being summer here in Florida it's been way too hot to sit outside and eat food. But yesterday it was very pleasant after a big round of thunderstorms pushed through the area. So we decided to stop and try some smash burgers from a food truck called Cast Iron Burgers.
The food was absolutely amazing, and I didn't realize it until we were waiting for our food, but the burgers from this particular food truck were rated in the top 10 food truck burgers in Florida. A nice surprise. And the burgers were as good as their top 10 rating indicated.
But that wasn't the highlight of the meal. As we were sitting out on the picnic tables eating our food, we noticed that from our particular vantage point we had a perfect view of the sun setting at the end of the busy road. And thankfully, I was able to get a good photo of the sunset (it was funny, because literally the entire crowd of people at the food truck rally were also clamoring to get that perfect sunset photo).
I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful sunset, except maybe if I was on a beach on a tropical island or something, but for our current conditions/location it was nearly perfect.
I didn't pay attention at the time--and didn't notice until I looked at the photo prior to publishing it on this discussion--but all the traffic lights were green at the same time, something that NEVER happens on this busy section of road. I couldn't believe that I captured photo evidence of it, because no one would ever believe me if I didn't have proof! lol
Did any of you see or catch a magnificent sunset last night? Would love to see your photos if you did!

I'm glad you two had a delicious dinner and a good view of the sunset.
We have to drive outside of the city to see a sunrise or sunset here. Too many trees block the view to the East and houses across the street to the West.

It's annoying when you WANT to see the sunrise or sunset and are blocked both directions.

Its the same way here where I live. Too many trees. That’s why it was so cool to look down the roadway and have a perfect view of the setting sun. We didn’t even realize where the sun was, because minutes before it was storming.

I don’t often get to see sunrises because I have to be at work early in the morning before the sun comes up.

@moffittjc my house faces the East and that explains why I get to see it every single day Here's one

@allknowing The back of my house faces east, so if I’m ever awake early enough in the morning on my days off from work, I can sit out on the deck in my backyard and watch the sunrise. The problem is, whenever I have a day off from work I like to sleep late.

That really is magnificent.
Traffic lights are supposed to be all sequenced for ease of traffic flow, or so they are here.
I didn't see anything exciting last night, but this morning my husband and I took a pretty cool 4km hike through the Pond Mills Conservation Area, which is right here in the city. There are actually 6 ponds in the area.
It was a cool enough morning that a good brisk hike was tolerable.

The city tells us that all the lights are synchronized, but all the drivers here know that it is not true. I drive down this road all the time, and I don’t think I’ve ever made it through a sequence of lights without getting caught in a stop and go pattern. As soon as one light turns green, the next one turns red.
A 4km hike sounds like you got in a nice walk this morning. How was the weather?

@moffittjc Today the weather was a bit cooler, probably in the high 60's on your scale, but that is so refreshing especially when you are out hiking.

@wolfgirl569 When I lived in south Florida, I would drive down to Key West on a lot of weekends, to do a little partying, but mostly to see gorgeous sunsets! I miss those beautiful weekends.

I haven’t seen the sun look that big in quite a long time. We actually sat and watched the sun slowly sink beyond the horizon, with no rush to head anywhere as long as we could enjoy the scene.

Some of ours have the red man standing. I guess maybe it depends on what company the municipality purchases the equipment from.
Does it look really weird to you to see all the cars on a different side of the road?

@JudyEv I've always wondered how well I would be able to drive if I ever went to a country where they drive on the opposite side than Americans. I hope to never have to find out, as I don't think I could manage. At least not for the first 2-3 days of driving!

@moffittjc When we took our motor-home to France we had to drive on the other side to what we were used to. But our vehicle had the steering wheel on the right. It was only on the very big intersections where we'd get a bit bamboozled.
To answer your question, yes, it does look a bit weird.

@MarieCoyle We've had an unusually quiet summer as far as rain is concerned. We used to get afternoon thunderstorms everyday during the summer. Now our rainstorms have been more sporadic, and many of them overnight instead of in the afternoon.

We have had so many hazy sunsets this summer, that would have been beautiful but the smoky haze from fires, or the fact that we've had no rain for over a month, makes things so dusty. It rained today--for 5 minutes. I was glad to see it, but unfortunately, it's not enough.
I like to be able to sit outside and watch the sunset, but that isn't always possible, life gets in the way!

Everything's better on a beach! lol
We had been wanting to try the food truck for a while now, and funny thing is that this particular Friday I wanted to go to a new Japanese steakhouse, but the gf wanted to try the food truck. I'm glad now that we went with her suggestion instead of mine, as we would have missed the sunset completely if we had gone to the Japanese restaurant.

As a former Florida Gator (University of Florida), I always love when the sky is a beautiful orange and blue…the school’s colors.

Now that's a great title...."Urban Sunset!" I love it. I wish I would have thought of it.
I'm sure your sunset photo above Berkley is awesome, especially since you had an elevated viewpoint.

I felt like all the planets and stars were in perfect alignment....I had my girl by my side, a juicy burger that was incredible, and one of the most incredible sunsets I have seen in a while. Oh, and the weather was perfect,

Some of my best sunset memories were at Mallary Square in Key West. Sadly, camera technology back then was not of the quality they are now, so my sunset pics weren't really that impressive. But thankfully those beautiful sunsets in Key West are ingrained forever in my mind!

The burgers were amazing, and I will definitely go back there again. I've never really been a fan of smash burgers before, but these were top-notch, and I give them a solid A+.

@moffittjc Smash burgers are a bit overrated in my opinion as well. I mean, does smashing them really change the flavor? lol. Besides, I like a thick burger over a flat one. Part of the reason I am not a fan of Freddy's. Where's the damn beef? lol
