I hope the photo comes through. I love odd things in the garden. The older the better, too. I have been looking for a clawfoot tub for the garden for quite a while. Somebody in the community who calls himself "shed guy" appeared on Facebook. I asked him if he had a tub and very important, would he deliver? He said he had one and yes, he would deliver it. I can't wait for Spring to arrive. I am thinking about a vine type flowering plant to put in this tub. Something showy but not too tall. Something that spreads. I haven't decided if I will look into how I could paint this tub. I like the rusting feet so I don't plan to mess with them.

Hmm... If you just wanted a vine, I'd suggest mint of one type or another but mint isn't "showy". I hope you find something you enjoy to plant in the tub.

@sallypup I didn't know that. I've never grown it... Pretty has three types of mint planted around this house. Orange mint, chocolate mint and plain mint. If I'm not feeling very well, I'll ask her to pick some leaves so I can make some mint tea. It usually fixes me right up.

@DaddyEvil From a distance, flowering catmint resembles a smaller version of lavender. Other mints have what I call barrel flowers.

We had an old fashioned tub in our garden in Latvia and filled it with hot bathing water even when it was winter and would sit in it feeling warm with snow all around, When the tub started rusing out we had to get rid of it,

@RasmaSandra Open air bathing! The neighbors didn't mind?

@allknowing Great question! I would love to have some koi and water plants. I just can't keep the water nice so no, it won't be a water garden. Plants only.

Interesting. I never thought of using a bathtub as a planter.

As this is a tub why not to fill with water and add aquatic plants? Some are beautiful.

You could put an herb garden in it. That would keep spreaders contained, be pretty and useful.

We grew our mint in one of these once as it stopped the mint from taking over the whole garden.
