Prison Food Constroversy

I believe in justice. In some more horrible situations, I also believe in the death penalty. Men and women have to pay the price for going against the laws society has set down. But how much concern should one human have for the treatment of another behind bars is getting? Should even those lower life forms be expected to have good food available to them? There are stories of stale bread, moldy meat and questionable casseroles being fed to inmates. Many news reports of inmates having strikes due to the food they are getting. Should even these types be expected to get decent food? Or do we just write them off when they enter prison?

It doesn't have to look nice but it should be edible and not expired.

Well I believe if they are going to feed them, then feed them good food. Not moldy rotten stinking slop. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, no one deserves that. Why house them and pay taxes to house them and then feed them slop? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I would guess prison food is about what you get in the hospital. If it is good enough for people in the hospital, it is fine for prisoners.

It depends on the circumstances but I think a basic diet should be healthy and not old, moldy and gross. If treated real bad in prison, it's going to escalate issues and chances of rehab are even more slim. Good nutrition can keep behavior in check for many. I know they put themselves in there (most, some are innocent), but bad food can lead to a domino effect. Taxpayers foot the bill and that includes medical if they get sick from lack of good nutrition. They get out, their lack of self-worth in the prison will spill out on the streets with more crime.

I think that if they can't get the mere basics, they are more apt to cause more issues for both themselves and others.

As some of the comic book heroes would say "Even villains deserve justice tempered with mercy."

I think they should have acceptable circumstances and food. Their freedom has been taken away. That's a big thing.

Yes, it is. Even if they are awful humans, they are that and should be treated accordingly.

Sadly, people should still treat them people, because God, still treat them human and forgives when they asked for forgiveness, but still, even thoguh they were forgiven, God will not overlooked what they did to others, they still face the consequences... so yes, prisoners should have a healthy and decent food, not grand but a decent one, enough for the day.
