Waiting For The Plumber

United States
September 25, 2025 9:55am CST
Happy Thursday Everyone! it's a rainy day here today with possible thunderstorms later this afternoon/evening. Right now it's just light rain so I'm hoping that's how it stays. I'm waiting for my son to come and look at the garbage disposal in my kitchen sink. It was working fine and then it wasn't. After trying to reset it or look for a possible clog (all thanks to Google) we couldn't find the cause. So, he's coming to take a look and it's possible we just might have to replace the whole thing. Luckily he's able to do it. I always feel bad taking him away from his paying customers but selfishly I get to see him and some big hugs too While I'm sitting here waiting, I have a morning show on the tv and they're already talking about Halloween and their favorite candy. I haven't even given Halloween a thought yet but maybe I should. I'm expecting candy to be expensive this year so maybe I can find a bargain on something somewhere. Meanwhile, before I switch into Halloween mode I need to figure out what to make for dinner. I'm tired of chicken so maybe sausages? Peppers, onions, sausages and diced potatoes in the skillet does sound pretty good. That's what's going on here today. What's happening in your little corner of the myLot world?

I am sure he is happy to come to your help. I totally forgot that Halloween is coming. Bad weather here, plenty of rain, it's good to stay inside.

I'm really lucky that he's able to do all sorts of plumbing and electrical work. Having to hire someone can be very expensive.

I am sure that he loves to come to fix things for you for the same reason that you love to have him in for that. I am thinking of Halloween, only because we make special little bags for Willow and Harper's friends from Grandpa and I. All of those kids call him Grandpa, so I stuff them full of goodies, juice boxes, gold fishes, chocolate bars and a little bag of either smart food popcorn or chips. We are going to a pancake supper tonight at the playgroup centre, and will get to see all of those little cuties and their parents-plus I don't have to cook supper.

@Marilynda1225 He loves being called Grandpa, and they call me Nanny, because that is what Harper and Willow call me.

@Juliaacv that's so cute that all those little ones have adopted you both. I'm sure you smile when you see them all. You're blessed for sure

I hate bothering my son to come and fix things for me but I do love to get an extra visit. It was doubly special because he brought my grandson with him. Your Halloween treat bags sound like they're filled with lots of goodies. Its cute that all those little kids call your hubby Grandpa. Do they call you Grandma too? The pancake supper certainly sounds like a fun evening and not having to cook an extra bonus.

That sounds so good! I think I’m hungry now. This morning, I got a cupping/massage appointment to try to cheer myself up a little more. I had some money I was going to spend on the cruise so I did that instead. Then I took Sadie to get groomed. It had been awhile.

@Marilynda1225 She doesn’t mind it. Sadie likes attention so if someone is singling her out for anything, she’s not going to make much of a fuss.

Glad you got your cupping massage and hope you feel good after getting it done. Does Sadie like getting groomed? Mush hates it

@AmbiePam you're lucky she doesn't mind it. Mush had to go to the Vet last evening for a skin tag behind her ear and she screamed like she was being killed. All they did was freeze it since shes too old to go under anesthesia to have it removed. Hopefully this will shrink it and it will fall off.

@Marilynda1225 Gppd idea. We dump them in compost pits.

The garbage disposal is just for food scraps so the disposal just grinds up those scraps and they can be flushed down the drain.

Milky Way is the number one Halloween candy that I read about online. Your son probably enjoys doing things for you.

I think MIlky Way is probably very popular for Halloween. I'm very lucky he can do plumbing as it's pretty expensive when you have to hire someone

I hope you can get the disposal figured out. I get tired of chicken and ground beef but in the trailer waiting on the house to finish, we make it easier to cook. Tonight, I made up burgers for my son and I. The girls are at their mom's until tomorrow. They love beef and broccoli, so think that will be on the menu.

Chicken and ground beef are what we make 99% of the time too so it's just a matter of how to fix it. We also love beef and broccoli and I haven't made that in awhile. A good idea to put on my menu for this upcoming week. Will the house be finished soon?

@Marilynda1225 We got word DOT gave the final papers so they can transport. It's 300 miles away and have a mid-week arrival if all goes well. Once here, a bulldozer has to bring it up the grade. It's in two pieces. All has to be put together, sealed, carpet in, painting where needed, plumbing etc. We still have to get the septic in, water lines ran from the top road of the mountain and power up from the bottom. Lots of work but if that house arrives, I'll have hope again.

We're camping in the motor-home but we're in a caravan park so have power and amenities. We're able to free camp if we want to but it's good to have power.

Today the Terminix inspector is coming to see where the mice are coming in. I hope your son can fix/replace the garbage disposal.

Hope the Terminix guy is able to figure out where the mice are getting in. I know mice can squeeze through a space as thin as a dime. The disposal was an easy fix. Just a clog.

@Marilynda1225 I'm glad the disposal is fixed. The inspector said my exclusion has expired. I would have to pay another $1,000 to get someone to come out and seal up more entry points. They are nuts. No way.
