Went to the store for nothing

There was a particular poetry book that I wanted to get—A Magnificently Ordinary Romance by Celia Martinez. I did not want to pay $6.99 shipping to order it from Barnes & Noble so I went to the store. Before going there I checked online to see which location has it in stock and went to that one. When I got to the store, I could not find the book in the poetry section. I asked one of the workers for help and he couldn’t find it either. He told me sometimes what it says online is not accurate. Even though it says a book is in stock it may not be. Really? That should not be the case. If it’s not in the store it shouldn’t say online that it is. Turns out I went to the store for nothing. And it was a long commute to get there and then get back home. But at least it got me out of the house and kept me busy, which is a good thing. And I enjoyed the ferry ride both ways.

I'm glad you got out; but I'm sorry they didn't have your book.

I wasn’t thrilled they didn’t have the book on the shelf. Maybe it was misplaced or someone took it and then changed their mind and put the book anywhere but back on its shelf.

Well, that would irritate me. lol. You're right, what it says they have, they should have. At least you got some fresh air even if you didn't get the book.

I definitely wasn’t happy that the book wasn’t there. Getting there took probably two hours or close to it. And same getting back home. The guy was like “I can check what other locations have it.” I could do it myself on their website. And there were a few locations that did but after this store experience I didn’t wanna travel to other ones as same issue may have presented itself.

@lovebuglena Yeah. I mean, what is he going to check? If he checks the website or you check the website, how does anyone know either are right? You checked before you left, it said they had it, and they didn't, so what you might wind up on is a wild goose chase. lol

A nice outing then, huh? I think I'd call ahead next time. Maybe they could order it for you and then you could pick it up. Another nice outing. They just want to bring you in so you might buy something else whether the item you want is in stock or not. The only places I saw it listed were Barnes & Noble and Amazon. I don't use Amazon but........?!

If they can order it for me and then I have to go pick it up I may as well just order it myself and ship it to my house. I looked for the book on Amazon but it’s only an e-book. I only read paperback or hardcover books.

too bad for you that it happened that way and i admire you for looking at it positively by saying its still a nice things because you were able to go out of the house and such. maybe there is something wrong with their inventory that it looked like its still in stock when its really not. did you say it was a ferry ride? wow, that was such an experience. where you from by the way. im curious because you had to take ferry to get to the place.
