We saw this incredible sculpture/installation at Wongan Hills in Western Australia. It’s obviously a well-dressed lady and the sign on her jacket mentioned the CWA and the fact that the Wongan Hills organisation was first formed in 1929.
CWA stands for Country Women’s Association which would be similar to Mothers’ Union (I think that’s British). I don’t know what the American equivalent is.
We were really impressed with this lady. She is all made from corrugated iron but it looks really good. The iron is used vertically, horizontally and sideways to created different effects.
Years ago, to go shopping or to attend something like a CWA meeting, a house-wife would dress up with her best dress/suit, her hat, handbags and, on Anzac Day, a red poppy. Her curly hair is pulled back in a pony-tail but that will have to be another photo, maybe in the comments.
Don’t you think she looks very stylish?

In the image it really had me fooled. I thought it was crisply pressed stone washed denim, all the style. My grandmother went to "club" which was actually a County Extension organization. The had educational meetings and learned new, economical recipes, etc. Of course they dressed their best to go.

I think so, but the vibe isn't good, maybe because I remember some horror movies with women wearing dresses like that, well, the setting of the movie is in the old times.

Quite stylish & a very realistic looking statue.
So much of formal tasks in those days.
But well, may be those rituals and styling practices made people more cultured and sombre.
Just guessing !

Keeping up appearances was very important in those days.
