WOW, what an ending to the baseball season! I don’t know I’d want to play the Guardians ( Indians) right now. The game meant nothing to them (because Detroit had already lost, giving Cleveland the AL Central), but they still came back from a three-run deficit in the bottom of the 10th. Bring on the playoffs!! And bring on another slower song for @rebelann who has been mellowing out with ballads this month. Next month we’re gonna rock those plastic chairs apart! Here’s today’s song. #2: You’re in My Heart (The Final Acclaim) - Rod Stewart Let’s get something straight: NO, Rod, I don’t think you’re sexy. Not then, and definitely not now. But dang this guy can rock…and, as this song proved, he can do a good ballad, too! So what does all that baseball talk have to do with this? “You’re Celtic, United, but baby I’ve decided you’re the best team I’ve ever seen,” Stewart sang in this, references to two of his favorite soccer (football to the rest of the world) teams Celtic FC and Dundee United. So if he can talk sports, so can I! I’m not a big Rod Stewart fan, but I did have this album and loved it. This song, supposedly about his “main squeeze” at the time, Britt Ekland, is one of his best and most personal sounding ballads. You’re in My Heart (The Final Acclaim) Written by Rod Stewart Recorded by Rod Stewart From Footloose and Fancy Free, 1977 You’re an essay in glamor:

I can't recall ever hearing this one but boy did they overplay Maggie May ..... ok, I confess, I don no if that's the name of that tune but it was part of the lyrics. Yeah, I'z with you kiddo, not a huge fan of this dude and you're right he ain't sexy. I'm wonderin if the east coast played different kinds a tunes than we did here in TX SW. Hey, in the 1970s the radios blasting near the apartment I lived in usually had old 50s tunes on em, specially the old time blues Wait, watttt?? Ya wanna rock my plastic chair??? I'z gonna end up bustin my butt ifin ya do dat.

Well tried to listen to Reason to Believe and noticed Tim has a much nicer voice although the tune itself wouldn't be on my list.

Yeah, “Maggie May.” The B-side was his cover of Tim Hardin’s “Reason to Believe,” which was an infinitely better song.

What a lovely song. He's not a charismatic fellow at all but he sure can write a song or two.

@celticeagle You obviously didn’t fall for his bad singing or his pseudo-Scottish charm then? A rarity indeed.

Glad you enjoyed it. He can rock when he wants to…or I guess he could when he wanted to. He’s 80 now.

I think I’ve said this before: He’s done very well for himself considering he can’t sing. I can’t sing either, but never made millions from my voice. He’s also been very successful with the ladies, considering he’s no looker. I’m no looker either, but I haven’t had his success in this department either. Am I jealous? Noooooo

Rod? Good with the ladies?? To clean up Moe Greene’s line in The Godfather, “He was making cocktail waitresses two at a time.” That’s the beauty of rock and roll: hundreds of ugly guys who can’t sing, making millions and scoring with every female they meet.

I like that song sung by Rod Stewart a lot since Rod could sing slow songs as well as dance tunes.

How about that! What happened? Seriously, this is probably my favorite Rod Stewart song. He really sang (and wrote) the heck out of it.
