The Fates are havin’ a Laff

My little misfortunes continue. A little over a month ago, only 30 feet from my front door, I had a fall. At first, I thought no great damage was done. Then I found my brand new glasses were destroyed. My neighbours came over and gave me a hand to sit up and they called an ambulance. I was wondering why and they explained that I was bleeding heavily from under my left eye. It appears when I went over, I face planted and must have skidded along. I had several abrasions on my face and a small gash under the eye. Within a few minutes I was being treated and then had my first ride in ambulance. Luckily I live near the hospital and was soon cleaned up. Being so close to my eye, the gash was glued closed and then I had a CT scan. I was home in a few hours and had a big mug of tea and a biscuit! Had the CT results last week and all good. I had only gotten my new glasses six days earlier and was upset about that. I also had a ticket for an exhibition at Marble Arch, the next day, so was none too happy about that! To say I have been feeling sorry for myself is an understatement and it was a couple of weeks before I went out again, beyond my street. Still taking things easy and beginning to walk further each day. After some four weeks of minimal activity, I need to get walking again as well get back into writing and taking photos. Also, I have not done any watercolour painting. Since I am still an awful artist, that last isn’t the end of the world!

yes, thank you, have new glasses. Despite being the same prescription, they don't feel as good as the first pair!

@Ronrybs Of course..what a shame..is there any way they may adjust them for you or even take your discomfort with the new pair and get you another pair? I know that is a stretch.

I am so sorry, but at least your eye is fine, even if your glasses are gone and I know it's something expensive to replace. Take care and rest.

Having spent so much time doing nothing, I find that going walking more than a couple of miles tiring. Need to get out more and further!

So sorry you took a big fall. Maybe homeowner's insurance would pay for glasses?

My mother fell a few weeks and she had skidded her nose up pretty bad. Take it easy.

That's what I did and chipped a tooth into the bargain. Thankfully, you can't tell anymore, though there is still a lump under my eye. Hope your Mum recovers soon.

I am sorry to read of your fall. I am sure it was traumatic for you. I have had two ambulance rides in my past, and I know it was heart wrenching to wonder what would happen...no one wants to fall. Be careful, OK? Look before you step! It's definitely worth it.

@MarieCoyle Not sure if I miss the rushing about or not. Still, could always be worse, so I am not complaining either!

@Ronrybs I know what you mean...in my head, I am still that girl that had long red hair, rocked her bell bottoms, and had incredible energy. But in real life, I have long white hair with one reddish streak, I still wear jeans but not bell bottoms, and my energy is not what it used to be. That's life...and I'm still here, so I am not complaining!

I must have missed that back when. I hope you're totally back to normal now. I would have been having a cup of tea and a CHOCOLATE biscuit.
