We went to a very noisy concert

We’ve just got back from an outdoor concert at Mangowine Homestead in Western Australia. The group, Rising Sun, played a tribute to Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel. While they were well received, they were too loud for it to be really enjoyable for us. At one point, Vince’s watch was warning that the noise level was at a dangerous level registering over 100 decibels. We, along with many others, were taken by bus to the concert venue. We treated ourselves and ordered a 3-course meal in an Esky (cooler pack). I forgot to take a photo of it but we had dip and crackers to start with, a pasta salad each and a green salad to share, two buns with butter, a huge piece of chicken each then carrot cake and lemon sponge for dessert. We split the desserts in half as we could try each one. It was a bit much for the two of us so we’ve brought enough home for lunch tomorrow. The hamper came with a bottle of wine, glasses, cutlery and serviettes so we were well pleased. Ordering the meal meant that we didn’t need to take chairs which was a bonus. Tomorrow we need to leave early from here to go to Nungarin to check out their Sunday markets. I’ll probably lose internet again. The photo was taken by Vince.

Sounds like a fun time except for the noise.

Yes, we did enoy the ambience and experience. We'll try to sit further back next time perhaps.

@judyev A very civilised concert indeed, except for the unnecessary volume.

We went for the experience. We're not really Jimmy Barnes fans but we didn't think it would be quite so loud. We'll probably be back next year but it will be a different tribute band.

That sounds like a delightful picnic even if the concert was loud.

Oh my goodness 100 decibels is really too noisy and dangerous. At last you had a nice meal.

@JudyEv - You should complain with the organization. They should respect a maximum number of decibels.

Next time we'll try to sit further back. We enjoyed it overall and possibly not every group is quite so loud.

Looks a couple of bottles of red, on the table, so I'd be happy! Mind you, the noise level would be off putting

I would have loved it if I had taken those ear noise canceling headphones. Lol I imagine that wouldn’t have kept me from hearing it overall. The hamper sounds like a hit!

Vince pushed his hearing aids in as far as they do then turned them off! I had pieces of tissue in my ears. Yes, the hamper was good.

You're right but it was okay really. Just would have been better if it were not so loud.

Wow, that sounds like a real treat with the meal! Sorry it was too loud for you. The last few years I went to concerts I took to wearing earplugs even at the bluegrass or acoustic shows.

Vince pushed his ear plugs right in then turned them off. That helped a bit.

We still enjoyed it but a bit less loud would have been good.

We'll know better next time and sit further back if we can. And maybe not every concert is quite so loud.

Aren't concerts supposed to be loud? It looks and sounds like you had a very nice setup for the concert. I hope you enjoyed it despite the noise level.

I hate really loud noises. When we went to the Robert Palmer concert our seats were right in front of the speakers. I had to put Kleenex in my ears.
