Did you ever get anyone a job?

I know a lot of you have probably been references for others, but have you ever been directly responsible for getting someone a job? I remember one time my mom went in for a job interview, and when they heard the last name they said, wait, are you the mother of Mindy and Amber? She said yes, and they said that’s all they needed to know (she also had the qualifications, of course). Then, when my dad was working to pay his way through college when he was 18, he went in for a job interview, and when they heard his last name the guy asked if Larry and Albert were his brothers. He said, say no more, you’ve got the job. I think that’s cool when you’re a reference without being a reference. I was glad I could make my mom proud.

That is cool that has happened in your life. I haven't been, but I got my job that I had ages ago because my mom and grandma worked at the same place, just a different department.

@AmbiePam It was, I had to fill out an application, but didn't really have to do an interview (that I recall)

That's really cool. I had a temporary placement service for 7 years. I placed a lot of people in jobs!

My husband sent my niece for an interview and when they knew she was our niece, she got the job.

Many years ago, I got one of my sisters two jobs. Both, I was a manager with. A seasonal job with a charity I helped run and a restaurant I was a manager at. She was very hard working so knew she would be good for them and they agreed once they saw her ethics. I really miss her. She passed away long ago.

I’m really sorry, Loretta. I can’t imagine how much that hurt.

I never got anyone a job but the reverse was true for me. My son was working at a car dealership (this was many years ago) and they were looking for a receptionist. He told them his mom (me) was looking for a job and they hired me right away. I actually worked there until I retired and moved from receptionist position to the accounting department. My son, however, didn't stay there much longer and went to trade school to start his education in the plumbing and electrician field. It was fun working together for awhile though.
