1931 - Frankenstein
What list of Halloween movies would be complete without an iconic monster?
Frankenstein is a science fiction gothic horror movie directed by James Whale and adapted from a 1927 play and Mary Shelley's 1818 novel, Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus.
In a village in the Bavarian Alps a scientist, Henry Frankenstein (played by Colin Clive), digs up corpses for body parts with his hunchback assistant, Fritz (Dwight Frye). Henry wants to assemble a human, play God and bring it to life.
Henry sends Fritz to steal a human brain from a teacher's classroom. Fritz accidentally damages the brain and renders it corrupt.
Frankenstein's monster is brought to life by the electricity from a lightning storm.
There have been a number of sequels and spin-offs from this successful film.

@porwest Creepshow is on at 9 am this morning; and I have it set to record. I hope it's not too scary. Now that I'm alone, I don't like scary movies.

@LindaOHio Some of those I did not like as much. I guess I'd have to go back and watch them again to really know.

1927. That was early. Even before Borus. I like the 30's and 40's ones myself. Have you ever read the story of Mary Shelley and how she came to write the story of Frankenstein. It is quite an exciting story. Have you seen "Bride of Frankenstein". Elsa Lanchester does a great job.

No I haven't read about Shelley. I'm pretty sure I've seen Bride of Frankenstein. I remember the hairdo.

Now that I'm alone, I won't watch a lot of the really scary movies, especially the ones where there is a break-in.
