Fish Fry Sunday

Oh yeah. Fish fry. I meant to post this yesterday, but I guess time got away from me, and then I got sucked into the rabbit hole some people call YouTube. But it was a fish fry night Sunday night, and as it always is, was absolutely delicious. I always do a beer batter. To me, it's the only way to have fried fish. Just so good, and I like the added crunch around the edges. If fish weren't so expensive, I'd eat a lot more of it. Plus, not that doing a fish fry is all that messy, it's definitely messier than some meals, although not at all complicated to put together. Do you like a fish fry?

That's a lot of fish. Made like that I would probably eat it with some coleslaw and tartar sauce....and some sort of potato.

We did slather on some tartar sauce, and I fried up some crinkle cut fries in the oil while I had it hot.

@Moonyana I love soy sauce, even on fish. But on fried fish I wouldn't like it.

@1creekgirl Perch and blue gill are good lake fish I like. I rarely get them. We used to get more when we lived in Holiday Shores which was a private community with a lake.

It's tilapia on this batch. But catfish is my favorite fish next to Salmon.

That's funny, we're planning a fish fry tomorrow. We'll cook white perch, fried cornbread, and baked sweet potatoes. Can't wait! We roll our fish in yellow stone ground plain corn meal instead of a batter. It's yummy both ways.

I won't knock your fish one bit, but to me, if it's corn meal, it's not a real fish fry. lol. The only fish I accept in a corn meal breading is catfish. I'm a fish-fry snob, I will admit. lol

I’ve never deep-fried a fish before. I prefer to bake it, but sometimes I do fry it in a skillet. The oil ends up splattering everywhere though. But the skin is much crispier than in the oven.

@porwest maybe I will try the fried fish one of these days. I did try fish and chips once in Vegas. It was Gordon Ramsay fish and chips restaurant. To me the fish was very greasy, but I liked the taste.

Fish fries were practically a part of life in Wisconsin. Usually every Wednesday night and Friday night. We were suckers for it. But it's very good this way.

@Moonyana Beef has been off my list for a bit. It's just really gone through the roof. Even the cheapest "cut," ground beef, is going to set you back almost $5 a pound. It's just gotten ridiculous.

I live in the Midwest in the United States in the state of Illinois. But per pound, fish is probably the most expensive thing on the menu next to beef these days.
