Wow, this is weird…a song by a country music legend that I do not have to warn the people allergic to country music to avoid! It’s not a hoedown dance, it’s an indication of why they put her in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Here’s today’s song to dance to. Potential New Boyfriend - Dolly Parton You gotta love Dolly. Last week her sister took to social media to ask for prayers, prompting concern (Dolly is 79, after all, although many parts of her body are barely teenagers ). The next day, Dolly recorded a video, saying, “I ain’t dead yet!” She’s been dealing with things that she neglected while caring for her husband, who passed away six months ago. So she’s getting treated for a kidney infection caused by stones. As for this song, lyrically this might be called “Revenge on Jolene.” Musically, it might make you wonder what the heck Dolly was doing in the 80s. This came out right before her massively successful song with Kenny Rogers, “Islands in the Stream.” This was not that big a country hit, but as far as dance music goes, it did remarkably well. (Must have been something in the water: die-hard traditionalist Vern Gosdin had a “disco” song in the 80s, too, “I Can Tell By the Way You Dance.”) But I like it. I bought the 45. Of course, I also saw the Clash, Joe Jackson, and Tom Petty that year. So here’s a side of Dolly you might not know existed. I hope you enjoy it, or at least it doesn’t shock you too much. I don't think I have ever heard this one before, to be quite honest. Hmm. Laughed out loud the way you decided to comment on her plastic surgeries. lol

Glad you enjoyed that. It’s the truth. My favorite Dolly quote about Dolly: “I’m not offended when people call me a ‘dumb blonde.’ I know I’m not dumb. I also know I’m not blonde.”

I love everything she does. Writing, acting-- all of it. She's great! Did you see the movie about her life. It was on television a few years ago.

They don’t make memes about this song the way they do with “Jolene.”
