1935 - Bride of Frankenstein Many feel that this sequel to Frankenstein surpassed the original. This is a gothic science fiction horror movie once again directed by James Whale and based on a subplot of Mary Shelley's book, Frankenstein. The film was nominated for an Academy Award in Sound Recording. Censors objected to the reference to playing God and to the number of murders that took place. Dr. Pretorious (Ernest Thesiger) wants to work with Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) to create a mate for the Monster (Frankenstein). Pretorious will grow an artificial brain and Henry will gather parts for the bride (Elsa Lanchester). Later on Henry marries Elizabeth (Valerie Hobson) and has second thoughts about the project. Pretorious instructs the Monster to kidnap Elizabeth and tells Henry she will be safely returned when he complies with his wishes to create the bride. Henry, of course, does what he is told. It's a good sequel; and I would recommend it. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I cannot say if it surpassed the original, because it's not a movie I watched.

I love the bride's hair. I laugh every time I see it.

@LindaOHio The actress who performed in this movie made many movies I have seen. Some were funny.

Those were the days. That hairdo is still iconic.

This would mark the first in your series I did not like. It just didn't hit the mark for me, and I think deviated too much from the original point of the whole story.

It wasn't too bad.
