1980 - Motel Hell
Motel Hell is a comedy horror film directed by Kevin Connor and written by brothers Robert and Steven Charles Jaffe. Robert said the story "sprung forth full-blown from our demented minds". The brothers pitched their screenplay to several studios; but it was rejected because the plot was too bizarre. United Artists finally reconsidered due to the rising popularity of shock films. Motel Hell has now become a cult classic.
Some of the cast that you may recognize are:
Rory Calhoun as Vincent Smith
Wolfman Jack as Reverend Billy
Elaine Joyce as Edith Olson
John Ratzenberger as Drummer
Vincent Smith and his sister, Ida (Nancy Parsons), live on a farm with an attached motel called Motel Hello. Vincent is well-known for his smoked meats; but they are actually human flesh. He traps travelers on nearby roads, buries them up to their necks in his "secret garden" and cuts their vocal cords so they can't scream.
My husband and I enjoyed this twisted movie. We loved the dark humor and bizarre plot. This movie makes a good addition to your Halloween queue of films.

@LadyDuck I checked out the trailer too. It makes it look much more intense than it actually is.

I've never heard of this movie, but it sounds like it would be quite a shock film.

I miss Wolfman. My girlfriend and I used to listen to him a lot in the summertime. I don't think I've ever seen this movie. Burying people up to their necks is pretty gruesome. Some people do deserve it though. Yesh, it does sound like quite a bizarre plot indeed.

I watched Creepshow. I just recorded Pet Sematary. I think that's how they spelled it.

@LindaOHio I guess I would have to see it. I do like spoof movies a lot, so maybe that's what this tried to be?
But when I think of a GOOD horror spoof movie, Scary Movie readily comes to mind. I am not sure that's what this one was going for based on the description.
