Weathering Weather

I have a friend who’s always telling me what our weather is, straight from her weather app. Every time, I tell her not to go by the app, but she still does.
Today she texted me saying it was “cloudy,” according to her app. It was pouring rain with wind gusts, so I took a video and sent it back showing the time stamp.
She replied, “But the app says…”
So I told her, “Well, the rain just told your app, ‘Here, hold my beer.’”
She didn’t find that as funny as I did and said I didn’t need to be a smart-you-know-what.
I really do try not to be a smarty-pants (the nice version), but sometimes it just slips out. I explained that those weather grids cover huge areas, and living in a rural, waterfront spot can make a big difference.
This isn’t the first time it’s happened, and probably won’t be the last. I should probably just send back a smile emoji next time instead of a weather lesson.
To be fair, she caught me before my coffee, and I was still drying out after wrestling the canvas gazebo off my trailer that the wind had picked it up, tossed it over, and dropped it against the side, taking two light poles and a string of lights with it.
After coffee and a hot bath, I was in a much better mood.
Looks like we’re in for a colder, crazier winter here in the wetlands.

If we all believed everything our apps told us, where would we be now? Weather forecasting is just an approximation. I have often looked forward to rain and either didn't get it at all or later than the forecast said. It's good to have them available though.
I look forward to the fog we get in January or February. I enjoy watching it grow and deepen.

@celticeagle When I was a teenager, my girlfriend and I loved to walk to school in it. That was before they began fog delays.

I will repeat myself: you live closer to the coast than me. Your weather will always be wilder than mine. Yes I heard my walnut tree blowing its limbs around last night but probably not as intensely as it would have if it lived at your place.

The apps never even agree with each other, so they can hardly be considered accurate. Accuweather seems pretty good for the most part..but they aren't always right either. Frequently they will say it is raining here and show it on the radar and we have none.

I look at the weather app but do not take it serious. Most the time it is right. Like right now mine says rainy day ahead and it is raining.

I'm sure I would have said much the same in those circumstances. You can hardly argue with the facts. I'm sorry about your gazebo. We don't put ours out too often but those that do have them well pegged down.

Your friend trust the APP too far, even the weather forecast are not necessarily precise. You should tell she no longer give weather lesson to you,it's uninteresting actually.
