Not going AWOL today

I shopped for groceries today. The deli pastrami looked good enough for a sandwich. Usually I don't eat animals. But I had an itch for pastrami this morning. I ordered a quarter pound. Fine. Got home to find that hubby still wasn't up though it was going on 11. These days he is staying up late and getting up late in the morning. So.....that meant that I had the fun of lugging in heavy stuff and putting it away with zero help. I put the little plastic baggie of pastrami on the counter, thinking I had lunch once I got done with work. Figured out where to put everything, including some peanut butter malt balls...... Yup. Could not find the plastic packet of pastrami. I looked everywhere and the fridge got a sorting out. Rufus has been known to take stolen loot like old cat food cans upstairs and onto our bed. I trucked up there. Nope. Not on the couch in my office. Huh. Finally...... found ripped up pieces of plastic on the downstairs bathroom floor tiles. Those tiles are heated. Rufus had a spa day ripping up plastic and gobbling my pastrami. Can you hear me growl?? I'm off to drown myself in chocolate malt balls now.

Oh mine, my dog is never allowed to do that. Kitchen is forbidden for the dog.

@sallypup I just educate my dog not to do it. Physical gates are not able to stop my dog from coming into the kitchen if he choose to do so.

@jefferson126 I'm curious. Which dog breed do you see most in your country?

@jefferson126 Thank you for trying. White dogs? Short haired? I'm trying to picture the dogs in my mind.

As soon as you said you set it out on the counter, I had a feeling I knew what had happened. Rufus...sounds like he totally enjoyed YOUR lunch. I hope your malt balls were tasty, at least!

@MarieCoyle I think Rufus is standing up more than he used to. He is not a tall dog but he is very good at stretching when he thinks he needs to.

@sallypup A dog can often reach things we don’t think they can reach, unfortunately.
