2007 - 1408 1408 is a psychological horror film directed by Mikael Hofstrom and based on a short story by Stephen King. Mike Enslin (John Cusack) is an author who writes books about haunted venues but doesn't believe in ghosts. He receives an anonymous postcard showing a hotel on Lexington Avenue in New York City called The Dolphin. The message reads "Don't enter 1408". Viewing this as a challenge, Enslin goes to The Dolphin and requests Room 1408. Hotel manager, Gerald Olin (Samuel L. Jackson), explains that in the past 95 years no one has lasted more than an hour in that room and that there have been 56 deaths there. Enslin threatens legal action; and Olin finally relents and gives him the key. In the room the clock radio begins to play The Carpenters "We've Only Just Begun"; and the digital display starts a countdown from 60.00. Mike sees ghosts of the room's past victims along with some other visions. He attempts to leave the room; but the key breaks off in the lock and the doorknob comes off.... I found this movie to be very tense as I kept waiting for things to happen. I think it makes a good Halloween movie to watch. Photo Credit: Mine A1
