Ever Think About This?

Do you ever think about a dream home and things you would want to include in it? I sure do. I read an interesting article about home features that no longer exist and that got me to thinking about some additions too. I ran through the entire list and there were some I'd miss, others I would definitely want to add to my dream home. Here's the list:
* Intercom system -- Homes in the 50s and 60s had these. I would want one in my dream home.
* Laundry Chute -- From houses in the 30s. I would add this one too.
* Milk Doors -- From the 60s and 70s. No, don't need one.
* Razor Blade Disposals -- These were around in the 70s and I don't remember ever seeing one. No, I don't need one.
* Popcorn Ceilings -- These were popular in the 60s and 70s and I think they were ugly, don't know why anyone would want them in their home.
* Phone Nooks -- These were popular during the 50s through the 70s. No need for one now.
* Fold-Out Ironing Board -- These were around from the 1920s. I haven't used an iron in decades.
Any of these items that you like and want in your dream home?

If I ever won the lottery I would want to build my dream home and have all the features I would need. Mostly all one floor with two master suites, a real fireplace and a pool. Of course I'd love a gorgeous kitchen even though I'm tired of cooking
I remember some of the things you mentioned and one that I actually had in one of my homes was the popcorn ceiling. Good grief what a mess removing it.
When I was house hunting (when I was looking where I live now) one of the homes had a laundry chute. My grandson was 5 at the time and he would accompany me along with his mom on my hunting. When he saw the laundry chute he said "we can slide down that" and my first thought was nope!!

The laundry chute in my mother's home went straight down, no sliding there.

But I think you could built it so it was kids safe. We don't have any little kids in the family so it would be okay for us.

@celticeagle Picture rails were great so you did not need to make holes in the walls to hang pictures.

I would love a wood stove and somebody to chop the wood for it. We have a system here that kind of works like an intercom system. Hubby set up a buzzer near his living room chair. The buzzer is connected to another one up in our bedroom. If I need him and he is upstairs I hit the buzzer downstairs and he hears it upstairs.

A wood stove would be nice for those winter evenings.

@celticeagle Back in the day I cooked on a wood stove. Made the worst pasta dishes ever cause sometimes the fire got too low and the water stopped boiling......

Our homes never had any of those and my Grandparents lived in the same houses from around ‘30’s .
I would not have any of those things in my house by choice.
A real fire would be nice,

Our house is from 1970 and has an old inoperable intercom system and popcorn ceilings. I wouldn't need any of those things in a home. I would need a chef and a chauffeur though!!!

I sure like the intercom idea. Especially if my dream home was big. Instead of using the cell phone you could call family to dinner on that.
