When you text someone, and they don’t text back. WHAT is your first thought?

So I’m in the middle of this big business deal with a guy, we have not yet met.
He’s selling something big, VERY big, big investment on my part.. has to do with future living situation but that’s all I can say without jinxies.
Yesterday, he was all in, sending me photos and specs and square footage, etc. Told him I would check it out in person today, (it’s out for the public to see) so he knew it would be a random drive-by at any time. He doesn’t live there, so we couldn’t pound his door down.
I go there today with my family, I text him telling him we’re there, and nothing.
I tell him we’re going out to lunch so we’ll still be in the area for a couple hours if he’s around, and again..
Nothing.
I know he is kinda desperate to sell this thing, because he’s been trying for 3 months.
So then why…… nothing??
No response at all.
Are you in the middle of a deep sleep? Drunk?
Forgot you were selling something? 
When you text someone and they don’t text back, what thoughts go thru your mind?
I’ve already learned from books & YouTube that when you text someone and you don’t get a response, never, ever assume “they just didn’t get the message” or “they’re busy.” These are dumb excuses your mind will make up for the person just to protect your own feeeeelings.
If a person doesn’t text you back, it’s because they chose not to. Always.
The reason they chose not to, only they know that.
So we’ll see.
(And no, I will not be a double-texter.) 
I refuse.

I use texts so people can get back to me when they aren't busy with anything else. If I need an answer this second, I call them.

He must've sold it to someone else if he was being that desperate...yes, if they choose not to text back then or alter, it's their choice...

If I see it I text back unless I’m dealing with a migraine. If family doesn’t text me back my mind goes to either they are busy or dramatically, that something bad happened. If it is a non friend or family member I assume after a few hours that they are just being rude.

I don't think you should continue do business with that guy,he don't respond stand for he don't respect you,i am thinking like this.Maybe some unexpected reasons cause no response,such as no signal,phone problem,but there are not much prossibility of unexpected cases.

While its true any number of things can happen, it sounds like you fell for a classic scam, or almost fell for one. The idem or place being offered, isn't actually for sale, or it isn't that person's to sell. In this case, when you mentioned that you'd be in the area for an in-person viewing, and were ghosted, that's a classic sign of a scam gone wrong. Another is, the person doesn't actually live in the area the place is being sold or thing is being sold. The idea is to get as many peple possible, convince them they need a downpayment, or a payment of some kind sight unseen. This scammer never got that far, because you mentioned you'd be doing a random drive by and they weren't prepared to counter that.
Most scammers that run scams like this, are often in Nigeria or a totally different country from where you and the place or object are. So, always go to ligit websites. In the case of real estate or apartment hunting, look for an offical website. NEVER conduct business of any kind via text message. Any ligit orgnization will have a phone number, or secure web portal. If someone wants you to use a third-party service, like whatsapp, telegram etc, it's fake.
As for what you stated, about texting and reasons why a person hasn't replied. In cases of friends, family, and safe advenues, you can assume any number of things happened before going into a panic. Because, phones die, things happen. People have lives, and may not respond right away. So before assuming the worst, take each message into account and base it on whom you're texting with.

The great thing about a text is you don’t have to reply straight away. some folk carry their phone around everywhere ….i do not , so if I dont reply immediately it could be I’m at work, in the bathroom, busy, cooking……just in another room from my phone.
However, this situation is different as he knew you were going to check it in person…..so he should have been awaiting your text …..and replied.
