I'm Really Not in the Mood To Go On My Trip Tomorrow

The hurricane might dampen the spirits of the cruise and I don't feel like I packed the right things and I hate leaving hubby here alone the day after his mother's official diagnosis of Alzheimer's Dementia. The the trip is non-refundable and my friend(s) are counting on me, so I'll make the effort. Have you ever gone on a vacation when you'd have rather just stayed home?

I wouldn’t want to leave my husband either with everything going on.

That's true love, right? Sacrifice, but only if it's mutual.

Yes. When we went on the road trip to the Keys. We made it as far as southern Ohio, I had a meltdown due to the traffic; and hubby turned around and came home.

I'd have stuck a blindfold over your eyes and kept going.

@porwest I told him the next morning that I was fine and that we could continue on; but he headed for home.

@LindaOHio How bad was the traffic that it caused all that turmoil?

Yes, I have. It has usually involved long distances and too much family. I hope you have fun anyway since you are going.

I would tell my friend that my husband is more important and renounce to go.

I usually look forward to vacations. But I understand circumstances can sometimes make one less desirable in the moment. I am sure once you are off and running your mood will adjust to the occasion and you'll have a good time, and in the end, come back saying, "I am glad I went."

I've never been on vacation. I trust you'll have a great time, but I'm sure your thoughts will be with your husband.

If you are feeling some kind of way, go with that feeling. Your friends would understand, your hubby needs you. If you're lucky the cruise will get re-routed, but do you really want to risk your life like that? What about power loss while at sea, are you prepared for that?

I have always been excited to go on a trip. Just go and try to have a fun time with your friends.

I understand how you feel. Luckily nothing has ever happened to prevent me from going away.

The problem with a cruise is, even if you are in constant touch with your family, you can't get off the boat to hop a flight to get home. You just have to wait it out. I wouldn't be inclined to go, even with the loss of the money if I had it to lose, but that's just me, I don't know your friends or circumstances...I would have a hard time going. The decision has to bring you some peace of mind, whichever way you decide.
