1979 - The Amityville Horror The Amityville Horror is a supernatural horror film (and allegedly a true story) directed by Stuart Rosenberg and based on a book of the same name by Jay Anson. On November 13, 1974 Ronald DeFeo Jr. killed his entire family with a rifle at 112 Ocean Avenue, Amityville, New York. One year later George (James Brolin) and Kathy (Margot Kidder) Lutz move in with Kathy's three children from a previous marriage: Greg (K. C. Martel), Matt (Meeno Peluce) and Amy (Natasha Ryan) and their dog, Harry. The Lutz's had been advised by the real estate agent of the murders that took place in the house; and they decided that it didn't matter...plus they purchased the house at a bargain price. Kathy requested that Father Frank Delaney (Rod Steiger) bless their house. Delaney arrived while the family was out, went upstairs and was surrounded by flies. A voice instructed him to "get out!" One disturbing event after another takes place until the Lutz's flee their home, leaving all their possessions...never to return. There has been much controversy as to the validity of the Lutz's claims of haunting; but they still maintain that they experienced all of the events that were depicted. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I remember that the Shinnecock Indians rejected the claim that the house was built on a site where the tribe had once abandoned the mentally ill and the dying. Those who bought the house also said that there were many original objects and nothing was damaged.
