Do families still have those? I remember a few when I was young. Weird thing is I no longer have much family There is my granddaughter and her three kids who live in Washington state. And there is my daughter and grandson who live here with me. That's it.
I recall Sunday dinners at my grandmother's place and there would be about ten people there. My aunt and uncle, my mom, me, my aunt's family, and grandparents, etc. We'd have the occasional family reunion with distant relatives from outlying areas around Boise.
By the time I was about 30 everyone was gone. Old age, cancer and such had taken them all.

When I was young my relatives would have big Thanksgiving and Christmas parties. They were like reunions. It was fun. I enjoyed being with my cousins. Good memories.

Due to the passing of some of my relatives, no family reunions since 2020 when COVID 19 came.

Holidays used to be packed with relatives but as the years have passed so have many who joined us.
I do have a fairly big family and we all try to gather for the holidays (my kids, their spouses and all the grandkids.

We used to have loads of family parties but sadly we have lost the family members that kept us together.

Families have become smaller, with fewer members, and I think there is not as much closeness within the family anymore.

All my family has left is brothers and sisters and only one brother had kids. Our family most likely to die out because those kids see the world too and like not sure I want to raise a family in this world. It drives people mad when I say that, but the truth is the truth.
I do not know what to tell people but be happy you have one if you can kind of get along. It is going to be a dying breed because people are more educated and will go I do not have to live like this.

Our main family get-togethers were at Christmas and New Year. Those that we didn't see at one we mostly caught up with at the other. Now there is just my sister and me although she has five sons and a large extended family.

We were the oldest living couple on my husband's side. All the aunts and uncles are gone. There are a few cousins left.
