Do families still have those? I remember a few when I was young. Weird thing is I no longer have much family There is my granddaughter and her three kids who live in Washington state. And there is my daughter and grandson who live here with me. That's it.
I recall Sunday dinners at my grandmother's place and there would be about ten people there. My aunt and uncle, my mom, me, my aunt's family, and grandparents, etc. We'd have the occasional family reunion with distant relatives from outlying areas around Boise.
By the time I was about 30 everyone was gone. Old age, cancer and such had taken them all.

When I was young my relatives would have big Thanksgiving and Christmas parties. They were like reunions. It was fun. I enjoyed being with my cousins. Good memories.

We were the oldest living couple on my husband's side. All the aunts and uncles are gone. There are a few cousins left.

It's too bad you don't have more family nearby who could help you.

My dad’s side of the family has a family reunion every Fourth of July. I no longer attend because the place they go to warrants spending those two days mostly outside. I cannot deal with Oklahoma heat in July. I hate to miss it, but finally, my dad specifically told me not to even try. He knows how hard the heat and humidity are on me.

I remember Oklahoma heat. I used to visit my bestie in the summer and she lived there.

It has been a long time since I have been to a family reunion, real long time. It was a blast when we did, good food, good memories a baseball game, miss those days. Our immediate family and some adopted family friends all get together for Thanksgiving so there is like 30 or so of us in one house, can get very noisy, and hectic trying to get all the food out and all the kids feed and sat down so grown ups can get theirs. But so nice to see everyone and spend the day into the night together.

It was fun when I was a kid and just played with the other kids. Now it would be a bit more serious. Families used to care about the older folks. Some don't seem to anymore.

Never had a very big family however, Latvians treat each other like family and I have been to big Midummer Night festivities which Latvians love with picnic, music, and dance just like a big family reunion,

Due to the passing of some of my relatives, no family reunions since 2020 when COVID 19 came.

All my family has left is brothers and sisters and only one brother had kids. Our family most likely to die out because those kids see the world too and like not sure I want to raise a family in this world. It drives people mad when I say that, but the truth is the truth.
I do not know what to tell people but be happy you have one if you can kind of get along. It is going to be a dying breed because people are more educated and will go I do not have to live like this.

I think a lot of people are making the decision not to have kids. The truth is just that -- the truth.

Holidays used to be packed with relatives but as the years have passed so have many who joined us.
I do have a fairly big family and we all try to gather for the holidays (my kids, their spouses and all the grandkids.

We did too. But my grandmother also was sure to go to family gatherings. She had nine sisters. She also visited all the gravesites of all the family members who had past and some extended friends. How she kept track of them all I will never know.

Same with my family. The ones who kept us together are gone now.

This is true. Families don't grow up on farms and need all the extra hands they can get. Hehe
