A Day the Work Trucks Got Stuck

The workers came early that morning, but things went downhill fast, literally. As they tried to maneuver around the bend, their truck got stuck and the tires just kept spinning, digging themselves in deeper. At one point, the trailer slid dangerously close to the embankment, right near the drop-off, and the truck ended up alarmingly close to the house. It still boggles my mind that they even attempted it, especially since a smaller truck had already gotten stuck earlier in the same spot. You’d think that would’ve been a warning. Once the crew finally got themselves free and left, I carefully made my way back down the hill toward the house but decided not to go any farther. It was a fall waiting to happen. Coming back up was rough, I'm in a lot of pain, but I made it, watching every step. I even joked with Jake that if I did fall, it wouldn’t be too far since that last stretch is so steep you practically have to lean forward touching the ground to climb it. Apparently, the crew hadn’t even told their own boss they were stuck. He found out later from Jake’s videos and photos he sent to him while talking about what's to come this week and next. The plan is to run the water lines, finish the skirting and stairs this week or early next, weather permitting. With the cold rain, I’m hoping there aren’t too many delays. Once the septic is in and the power is finally brought up, they can finish the inside work. We’re looking at about another four weeks in the trailers, but the end is in sight. In two weeks, I’ll be heading to Oregon for a medical, and I can’t wait to be somewhere I can run the heater all I want.

It is except today, those trucks tore up the drive we had fixed a few times and now no longer can. They left and didn't try to repair or even talk to us. My son sent off a bunch of photos and video. He just spent three hours on his tractor trying to fix it so we aren't stranded and he had to pull gravel from the bottom of the drive to fill in so now that is costly. Crazy things keep happening.

@AmbiePam It wasn't. It's been a rough going but they are supposed to be doing a lot all next week.

This has been such a miserable time for you and your son, I'm sure sorry. I hope the mud is drying, or will dry up soon. I hate that you are cold, I hope soon it's ready to move in.

I am glad to know that things are moving there, I hope that the water lines, skirting and stairs will be finished this week. Four weeks is still long, but you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now.

Do you have a good, solid cane? I don't want to be mean. If you don't you need one. I hope things smooth out for everyone of you.

It's good things are moving forward again. Those four weeks might seem like forever but this time next year it will all be a memory.
