There is one in this area where the confluence of two highways are There were several accidents there over the years several serious. The problem was studied by VDOT and a roundabout was decided on to help the flow of traffic. Of course people being people have complained about the roundabout several times with various complaints..legit or not. I don't really care for this roundabout myself..but it has really alleviated the back up at that intersection which in the summer could be quite unwieldy..Roundabouts, blessing or curse, what do you think?

We have a few around here and I dislike them. But hey we also have no left turns at intersections. Driving in NJ is lit.

Most states allow right turns at intersections.

I do not like them. There used to be one, just like the one you mentioned, between two highways, where I grew up. That’s pretty much the only one I encountered until I went to Australia, and they were much more prevalent. Of course, in Australia, I was not driving, which is good because I do not like those suckers at all.

Here in Italy we have roundabouts everywhere, a lot better than traffic lights in my opinion.

@snowy22315 - Exactly, I think it's good for the traffic.

No. I even literally ran into one in a residential neighborhood. It narrowed the street so even my little car's tire couldnt avoid the curb. I worried that I'd wrecked the suspension or a tire but everything turned out okay.

@snowy22315 At the time I was about a 5 hour drive from my house so for a few minutes I was very unhappy. Roundabouts are very popular.

I don't care for them. There is a funny scene in National Lampoon's European Vacation in which Chevy Chase (Clark Griswold) gets stuck in a roundabout.

That sounds funny. Roundabouts are the resolving door of streets.

@porwest I have gone around in a roundabout more than once. They are the revolving doors of the roadways.

I had this experience in Green Bay. I went in numerous circles before I figured out how to get onto I-43. Not a joke. lol But that's a very funny scene.

Personally I hate the damn things. Too many people don't know how to use them, and honestly, I am not sure they really save me that much time. Granted, no one seems to be able to figure out a four-way stop either, so, I guess we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

We have one here in the middle of no where. Which is strange. In Wilsonville there was four in a row and I did not like them at all.
