The top two. They’re interchangeable. My dear mother of blessed memory loved both of these songs, so if she could move to them so can you! Sing along with the chorus, and let’s go to town! #2: Lido Shuffle - Boz Scaggs I wonder how anyone whose name is close to “Lido” feels about this song. We have a guy on the putting tour named Lebo, and he hears this all the time. The Philadelphia Eagles played it every time their player Lito Sheppard made an interception. I’m surprised some car company hasn’t named a model after this song, just to use the song! Let’s talk about Lido, the man of mystery. One great thing about this song is that you don’t know whether he’s a touring musician (“one for the road”) or a criminal (“he be making like a beeline, heading for the borderline, goin’ for broke”). I’m thinking the former, given the references to bars and juke joints and all the dives that musicians play. And who else but a musician gets booked in Chicago after Tombstone, Arizona? And that opening line: Lido missed the boat that day he left the shack, but that was all he missed. Wow, what an opening. Oh, and let’s welcome back David Paich as a songwriter. He also wrote the Toto song used earlier in the month. In fact, Toto started as a band while working on this album with Boz. So you can thank or blame him, depending on your opinion of Toto.
