I sold something else! And a question…

So most of you’d know I’m trying to sell things I got to review to make some money (bills). Yesterday, I sold a set of luggage and I was so happy! Which brings me to a question about luggage. I have one suitcase, and it’s one I actually like. It has wheels, which I need, and is purple and black. Of course, I have duffel bags which I can always use, but my count of official luggage is one. What is your luggage like? I’m a fan of old luggage just because I think it makes people think there is less to steal. Back in 2000, I used my parent’s suitcase, which was nice, and when I opened my suitcase a few things had been stolen. Maybe if the suitcase looked terrible the employees would have kept their hands to themselves. Even so, it wasn’t like the luggage was Gucci. What about you guys?

I was given a set of luggage when I graduated from high school 45 years ago. I still use it.

I love that! My parents had a 1970s set of luggage for the longest time. I’d still use it if they hadn’t gotten rid of it. It was so cool to me. I think though, the luggage broke. Because they were also the kind of people who used something until they couldn’t anymore.

We bought new cases about five years ago. We have the same a large case and a carry on case. Ours are matching. They were not expensive, but not the cheapest. We haven’t had anything taken.

I always think the cheapest are the worst quality, sure, but also that the most expensive are never ever worth it.

Somewhere in my closet, there is a set of soft-sided luggage that the smaller cases nest in the larger ones. I've never used them. We actually use 2 duffel bags when we go somewhere. One for each of us. *shrug* We can pack enough for a week in each one and take some extra shoes in the back floorboards of the car. I've never flown anywhere on vacation so nobody but us to worry about. I'm sorry you've had things stolen.

Thanks. I’m just glad it wasn’t anything big.

Our suitcases are either quite old (the ones I bought to take with me when I moved to the US in 1998) or else the smaller ones which we use most often were bought second hand or found in a skip. They mostly look fairly respectable though - except that two of them have been made easily identifiable by the girls having decorated them with paint and stencils when they were little. So a couple of them have flowers or fish all over them in bright colours. That makes it easy to pick them out on the luggage carousel or rack. Never had anything taken out of any of them so far though.

I wouldn't like to be without wheels on suitcases now. Ours are biggish I guess and red but thankfully they've never been stolen.

Yes, I can’t imagine a suitcase without wheels at this point in my life.

I have an old old set, got it second hand, just plain black on wheels. Haven't used it in years, but hoping someday to put it to use again.

I definitely could use some new luggage. Mine is soft sided, but I have had it for years. Sometimes the zippers get stuck or something. Nowadays those hard shell ones are in vogue. Friend bought one for himself, but I was looking at the prices that aren't exactly inexpensive.

The ones I sold were hard shelled. I kind of wanted to keep one of them for myself because I like the hard ones better, but I didn’t want to affect the selling price. My current one is soft sided too.

That's a shame to have things stolen. My luggage is old, but is fine for no more traveling than we do.

I have an Eddie Bauer rolling bag. My ex has a matching one but in a carry-on size. He can get away with a week's worth of stuff in a carry-on but I can't.

A week’s worth would be pretty darn tough.

I use a wheeled bag, also, as well as a shoulder bag if I need more stuff. I might expect some random thief to steal a suitcase off a baggage carousel, but I would be absolutely LIVID to think the employees themselves are just stealing things out of my bags. That said, we usually drive. Last time we took a flight was to Japan, and I can't imagine ANA employees stealing.

@AmbiePam she is a super "Disney Adult"! I have a friend like that. He's a cartoonist who loves to draw Disney characters, as well as his own original ones.
