AND . . . I am back

Did you miss me? Yesterday my student was not in school, so Bob and I went running around. We shopped at Sam's Club, and did some other things. When we got home we discovered that power had gone out for maybe less than a second. Enough to disturb one clock. . . and damage my USB wifi connector (dongle). At least that was the message I got when I tried to log in. Oh, shoot. And I still had not taken the laptop to the shop. I worked today. Filled in for others after our Headstart planning time. There was an hour long gap, so I ran my laptop to the computer repair place. I explained all of what had gone wrong with it this summer, and told him I thought it needed a factory reset. He said he did not think we needed to go to that extreme. Long story short he had to get in and had to have me get a code on my phone for him. He was finished by the time I was ready to go home. He had typed up everything he did. I was going to go buy a new USB connector tomorrow. I came in to the desk to make room to open my laptop and log in. . . AND my little USB connector had healed itself, or whatever. I am on my desktop right now. I will use it until it completely dies. He says it likely is not worth uprgrading the hardware so I can install Windows 11 . I wanted the laptop fixed anyway, and yesterday was payday, so it is. I have it ready to use for Thanksgiving out of town.

Sometimes a little shock to their system is all that's needed... But you never know when that will work and when it will make things worse. I'm glad you've got it fixed now. And yes, I did miss talking with you.

I am glad to hear it can be used when you go out of town.

Computers often show a odd behavior. I am glad your USB connector fixed itself.

That is good it fixed itself. I haven't used a dongle in years since MS Dos.

They do sometimes fix themselves, don't they? That's always a good thing.
