What's for dinner? November 8

What's going on the dinner table tonight? Share with us! I'm trying a new recipe for beef stew--dijon and cognac beef stew from the Smitten Kitchen web site. The price of the beef cubes is absolutely eyewatering so I really hope that this one is good. I had everything else on hand already. Instead of cognac I'm using brandy because, again, that's what I have here after making the aged egg nog. To go with I'm going to make egg noodles and some steamed green beans. I might even get crazy and have some green salad too. That's what is happening here. What are YOU having? I want to know!

I made a deli ham, melted cheese and tomato sandwich but I think that it will not be enough for tonight.

I’d post a picture, but we can’t do that yet, I don’t believe. A friend brought me a huge loaded baked potato from a local place. It has real bacon, cheddar cheese, green onions, and sour cream on it.

I am really not sure. Maybe I will make a cottage pie (shepherd's pie) because it is easy and filling. Leftovers would be great.

That sounds so good. I would have to top it with some sour cream and French fried onions. Talk about ruining a recipe! lol I'm either having a PB&J sandwich or a frozen dinner. Depends on how ambitious I am.

I'm having stirred fried beef with broccoli. I've been craving for beef and broccoli but when i went to the market to buy beef, i was shocked that the price of the beef now in our place is very expensive, so i just bought ground beef as substitute. its still a beef, its just that it is more cheaper than the regular cut of beef.

Vince uses a lot of Dijon mustard. It was 40C when we visited Dijon some years ago and everyone was paddling in the big fountain in the centre of the city. The candles in the church had curled over in the heat.

Son asked about beef stew not long ago. Um...not unless I score a huge sale, you are correct--the price is eye watering! But it does sound really good. I am having a salad and grilled chicken. Son is having a hunk of lasagna I had in the freezer, and a salad, so we are good for tonight.
