I Hate Cooking Noodles

They rarely turn out perfect. You under cook them they can be a bit stiff and stick together. You over cook them and they soft soggy and stick together. How do people cook noodles properly, is it oil and temperature or something? I have gotten it right many times, but most times I am like dude, I did it like the last time and these not nearly as good. No wonder people throw noodles at the wall, they mad how it turned out and if it falls off, dammit, maybe it was good. I mix them in my bowl and I have clop of starch everywhere.

Oil does not help, it prevents the sauce to stick on the noodles (listen to an Italian!). I check the cooking time on the package, 1 minute before I taste and I decide for how many more minutes they have to cook. I like the pasta "al dente" that means better a little firm than overcooked.

@LadyDuck I always listen to Italians, Chinese and Japanese when it comes to noodles. I think oil is more for the Wok thing and they always bouncing it around and never stir it just bounce it till its done and comes out great every time. I am to lazy for all that, though.

When I'm making spaghetti, I call Pretty in to taste one of the noodles. She'll tell me if they need another minute or five and then goes back to her room until I holler at her again. Our system works well for us.

@crossbones27 I must have misheard her. I would have sworn she said you didn't need all your fingers.

Sprinkle a little salt in the boiling water to keep the noodles from sticking together.

@crossbones27 Don’t worry, you just need a pinch or two.

Huh, learn something everyday. Thanks miss lady I will try that. I usually hate adding salt because everything so loaded with it these days, but guess a little more will not hurt.

I use my fingers first and then I taste them. I like them al dente.

We never eat noodles but they sound pretty frustrating. I guess it's not much different to cooking pasta. That sometimes all sticks together.

It's all about timing for me. I just know how long to cook them for, and of course, every noodle has a different time. Penne, spaghetti, egg noodle, or elbow...they all have different times. I never add anything to the water.

That is true, that is why they are called wet noodles and crazy noodles.
