OMG I cannot

Okay so they started this “Echoes of Excellence” staff shout out thing here at work. I just rolled my eyes because that is the kind of stuff I never get. Well a coworker came in before to tell me that I was up on the board. It was from a new guy in the science department. I took him around the building the day he came to check things out, told him where to park, told him about cafeteria duty, etc. He’s texted me with questions. He actually lives like 5 minutes from me and has volunteered to drive me in on snowy days. I’m one of his go-tos here at work. So I had to go to the office anyway to give the bake sale money to the secretary. I checked out the board and this is what he wrote: Thank you NJChicaa for your help getting me started at (school). Your brutal honesty has been helpful and I appreciate you. OMG! I know he was trying to be nice but he still managed to make me sound like an a-hole! I mean he’s not wrong. I do tell it like it is so you always know where you stand with me. But still. . .

“Brutal honesty” is good. You can always tell him, “You made me sound like an A-hole, which is good because I am an A-hole!”

I would rather be known for being brutally honest and helpful than to be known as someone who was fake and making it all look like sunshine and roses when it isn't. There is a lot to be said for just putting it all on the table and being honest--with yourself, and with others.

Oh, girl. That’s hilarious. It is a real compliment, but it sure does make you sound a certain way. You don’t pull punches though, and that’s what some people need!

I think it's a nice note. He's not lying. How old is he? Is he married? Is he good looking? lolololol

I agree, he could have chosen his wording a little better.
