Learning "Remember Me" from Coco.

One of the things I "have" to do for my lessons at Guitar Center is learn songs I might not otherwise listen to. I have learned Metallica songs, Taylor Swift songs, and even video game songs, so I could teach them to my students. Today, I am listening to "Remember Me," a song from the kids movie, Coco. I am writing down the chords, so I can teach them to a particular student on guitar and/or piano. Do/did you have to do "homework" for your jobs? I don't have papers to grade these days, but I still do have a bit of homework every week.

Oh, yes. When I was still working, I had to study and learn about the new phones/apps I'd need to fix customer phones, talk with them about the benefits of the phones they looked at while thinking about buying them as well as new programming I'd need to use to help customers with problems with laptops, computers and tablets. Walmart never taught me any of that or paid me to learn it. I had to learn it on my own time.

Work is more fun if you're good at what you do.

@TheHorse I miss those days. I visited an elderly friend here this morning and helped him with a piano piece so that was nice.

I just had to keep up with changes in the software we (children’s mental hospital) used in the office.

Understood. Did you get to interact directly with clients?

Yes, there were plenty of things I needed to learn for my job, studying a balance sheet, how to examine the data of companies before buying stocks... all boring stuff.

@TheHorse - I have to say that I was "proud of me" when the Banks employees complimented me for how I did my job.

Did you enjoy "being good at it," even if it did not fascinate you?

I have many memories of lugging home endless paperwork to do. Ugh...I do not miss that.

@TheHorse And you wake up with your head on the table? I did that a few times.

That song is a tear jerker - awww, was that a request from a student? I was a graphic artist/designer . . . if I was doing freelance work, my work continued outside the office.

Yep, a student (a female teen who is almost mute) wants to learn it.

I give myself homework to go over all I have written during the day and make sure that all my facts are clear and my grammar is fine, Then I move on to other writing,

Sounds good to me. I catch errors in book chapters I have edited several times.

Before I retired, there were updates often for software, regulations, codes, and more. I would wind up taking some home with me since I worked my job plus others.
