We had a nice little Thanksgiving day earthquake this morning.

I thought at first that it was Kitty jumping on the bed. But Kitty does not weigh 500 lbs.
The place shook for only about two seconds, but my front door, which was closed, but not properly latched, swung wildly open with a bang.
Eeyore did NOT fall off of my bookshelf, though.
Do you experience earthquakes where you live?

None here in Florida, but I read a report once where someone swears we had one here.

We do, but they are very small like 1 or 2 on the Richter Scale.

@TheHorse No, they usually happen in towns 50 or so miles away from where I live.

@LeaPea2417 Interesting. There must be a "small" fault line there.

We actually do. We had one about a year ago while I was sleeping that got me up in the middle of the night. Several things fell off of my bookshelf, and I admit, it freaked me out a little. We don’t usually feel the earthquakes maybe but once every couple of years.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I remember about 3-4 years ago I was laying in my bed resting and my grandson had a friend over. I began experiencing my head going on a roller coaster ride. I was twirling and rolling. I thought it was one of my vertigo experiences and went with it. Then I heard the boys in the next room going on about a earthquake and I realized it hadn't been extreme vertigo at all. We don't get them here very often, usually just after shocks from further up the state where they are more common, closer to Yellowstone.

@TheHorse .......I watched a special a couple of years ago about the Maga situation there. It is scary. It could happen any day. Each time there is an earth quake around the country I wonder if it is connected to the MAGA one in Yellowstone.

@TheHorse I do not remember exactly the year, but we still had our apartment there so it was between 2000 and 2006. All the books fell out from the bookshelves, the The skyscrapers swayed. A friend of ours lived on the 42nd floor, he said that the apartment swayed at least 2 feet from side to side. What I remember it was the loud bang it made.

We've had two 5.0 earthquakes that I remember. During one my husband was down in the salt mine; and I thought I was going to freak out!!!

No earthquakes here; the occasional hurricanes in my area are enough for me to handle. Glad you are all right.

I live on the Cascadia fault zone plus others in the Puget Sound region. The Cascadia is the largest and most active in the PNW. One can come any time and cause tsunamis. We have alarms and escape routes. I lived in California up until 2015 and was in several there. Ventura and Bakersfield native here.

Yes last week there was an earthquake. It mostly hit Bangladesh, though.
