I can't imagine this even happening at a child's birthday party.

No one thinks of being shot at a child's birthday party, do they?
This is not the first one I have heard about, no. Stockton,California--Four dead, ten injured, some children and some adults. What kind of a person does this?? How sick do they have to be to even think about doing something like this? Were there warning signs that were ignored??
This makes my heart hurt so badly.
There is an ongoing manhunt for the shooter.

@MarieCoyle I can hardly imagine what could have motivated the person to commit such an act. One possible factor that comes to mind is jealousy, which might have driven the perpetrator to take this course of action. Observing others experiencing happiness while feeling unhappy oneself can lead to a sense of injustice about the world, and such feelings can intensify over time. This emotional spiral could ultimately contribute to the tragic outcome that occurred.

Children or anyone, really. I do not understand the why factor, either. What does this solve? How angry do you have to be to do stuff like this?

I wondered about it all...it's hard to think anyone would do this, thinking it would solve whatever problem they had at the time. The party was for a 2 year old. Maybe the mother of the child was estranged from the baby's father? Who knows...I've given up at this point trying to figure out just why some of these people do these heinous things to others. It' so terribly and so very sad.

@MarieCoyle So many bad news every day in the newspapers. Those terrible fire in Hong Kong who killed 150 people in their apartments is also horrible.

It was tragic. I have a feeling they will find more people deceased in those apartments, that was a huge fire.

So many questions...
It 'may have been a “targeted incident” '
I wonder who the target was and how bad the shooter was to get 14 in his* sight... Or was he using a UZI?
Was the birthday child one of the victims?
What a way to remember the occassion.
* I'm assuming it was a "he" because most mass shooters are.1 person likes this

The birthday child was 2 years old. She was not one of the children who were shot or killed. Maybe this update will help.

All of those people...either injured, deceased, or scarred for life. It truly is terrible.

No, there isn't. To think of having a birthday party for your child and then this happening is just unimaginable.

Yes, I thought of that. I also thought about a possible domestic problem, like maybe the parents of a child were quarreling.

To think of it happening...especially in that type of setting, is surreal and heartbreaking.

Just not normal but then we no longer live in a normal world, And just before Christmas holidays, I put in a prayer for all concerned,

Nothing is how we think it's going to be anymore. And it's to the point that there is no such thing as normal, unfortunately.

Or someone so deranged that they don't know what they are doing, I guess.
