He Forgot Me

So yesterday, I had an appointment with my pain management doctor, and because of a cold he was willing to switch to a telephone appointment. The last time we did this he forgot me, and this time I was assured he wouldn’t. Well, like my title says, he forgot me. He called in my prescription, which was nice, but you have to talk to him, and I need to make an appointment for next month. So this morning, I called in, and he talked to me then. No apology, but I didn’t expect one. I’m telling myself it’s an endearing quality. Hey, last time he said he called the wrong number two days in a row. Does anyone have a doctor who is as absent minded as this guy? (Can’t switch; Long story)

No. Not till now. My family doctor is an elderly gentleman. He never forgets anything about us. A few days ago my mother's younger sister had come to see her. She has a low immunity. Last time - a couple of months ago - she had come here and visited our doctor. This time she visited the doctor for the second time and was surprised to see he had not forgotten anything she has told him.

@Shivram59 That’s wonderful. It is not too common here for someone that age to have a good memory.

@AmbiePam Of course, he has a very good memory. I know a lawyer who is in his ,90s, and has an amazing memory.

Good he called in your prescription. That's a plus.

Yes, that was the main thing I wanted. If he hadn’t done that I would have been upset. He’s gone weeks without calling it in before, and I finally had to drive the 40 minutes there to get him to do it.

@AmbiePam I'm glad he did this time but to forget a patient is concerning. I would have been upset as well not getting my prescription filled. Glad you did.

I would be getting really upset with that guy. I'm sorry he's treating you that way but glad he talked with you this morning.

I comfort myself with the knowledge he does this to others. Actually, that’s not comforting, but you know what I mean. I’ve commiserated with a couple of other patients in the waiting room before. But yes, at least he talked to me this morning!

@AmbiePam Yeah, not comforting, but I do understand. I'm just glad Pretty finally let me switch to a good endo, finally! I wish you had someone else you could try, at least.

I have no doctor; I keep away from the guys with the white coats.

That would be frustrating it sounds like! I guess I don't...the worst is my regular doctor will make us wait back in the room for 30 minutes to be seen just for 5 lol

@AmbiePam My regular doctor is the only one that does it. My endo might be 10, but not usually more.

He is either forgetful or he isn’t very organized. I am sure sorry he forgot you.

His staff seems competent, but I think he’s got so many things going on in his personal life that it leaks into his professional life. Well, most of his staff is competent. He has one lady, Amber (sadly shares my name lol), who is way too absent minded to work in the lab.

That would have irritated me and he should have apologized.

No, kind of in between doctors but the last one was into delaying things it seemed.

Can you picture me shaking my head? This guy certainly is absent minded and I wonder how he manages his practice. Anyway, glad you talked to him and at least he called in your prescription.
