We're getting our fridge fixed this morning

(Image is one that I painted in watercolor last night). Or at least that's the plan. The freezer quit working in May and we had purchased a five year warranty so everything is still covered until sometime next year. After the freezer was fixed I noticed things freezing in the top shelf of the fridge. My daughter, who works at the place closest to us that repairs appliances said the warranty won't work if repairs are done to close together. I've been trying to get this done for a few months but the claim wasn't going through. But the technician is here this morning. It turns out that the thermostat was ten degrees off from what the door was set at. So they are replacing the thermostat and the rails that holds the veggie drawer in place broke so that's been fixed already. And something needs to be done with the motherboard. We got more snow Tues night, another five inches. I still have a little plowing or shoveling to finish.

I really dislike needing to get household items fixed. I want them to keep working correctly until they die of old age. We had to call in a repairman for the washing machine earlier this year and had to have the engine rebuilt in our car last spring. I hope everything else is working fine and you can get rid of the snow quickly. Be careful outside!

@MarshaMusselman Oh, I didn't realize you had snow that often or that stuck around that long. We've had two skiffs of snow so far this winter. We usually don't see snow until January and it will stick around for a week or two before melting off. We have had snow as early as September but that's really unusual. We can get a last snow in mid-to-late April that sticks around for a week or two before disappearing. When the construction crew was here this summer, they checked all our appliances for problems. The washing machine was the only thing that needed attention. True but our last washing machine lasted around 25 years with only a couple of minor repairs. I was hoping this one would be as good.

The snow will be around until sometime in April although we'll have sunny days where a lot will melt before it snows again. We've had more snow so far than we've had the whole winter in the past several years so some would say we're due. We had a problem with the dryer a month or so ago but that was a build up of dust on the inside. It was a surprise since I empty the lint trap each time I do the laundry. Nothing lasts a lifetime anymore like it did for our parents.

@DaddyEvil the manufacturers don't make things to last as long as they used to, but one would hope you wouldn't need to replace them more often than every ten or so years.

I didn't realize it might still be warm there. I remember the snow pics you used to share from your back yard in Switzerland. The technician has to come back one more time. The piece he got for the drawer isn't taking care of what Brooke we'll enough so he's going to have the parts person, which happens to be my daughter, order the shelf above the drawer.

@MarshaMusselman - During the past 5 years the weather has changed so much here. We used to have a lot of snow, now it's warm until January. I am glad that your daughter is the one who will take care of the missing part, you may b sure you will receive it as soon as possible.

@LadyDuck I'm glad I read this as I was supposed to transfer money to her account today. That's done. We've had light winters with barely any snow for at least three years of not more so I guess we must be due. Maybe we're getting it earlier than normal and the rest of winter will be mild but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm glad the warranty is still valid, because there are conditions that are not included in the warranty.

A refrigerator fix can really be expensive without a warranty. I learned that the hard way We got a wintry mix overnight so it a bit slippery out there right now. Hopefully the sun will melt it once the temps get above freezing.

It's pretty brisk out there with the wind. We don't have any sun today but hopefully sometime this week. I use salt in my porch ramp and part of the driveway but I don't want to use my whole bag up..I did shovel some piles I couldn't do yesterday with the plow so I wouldn't run into either car. I prefer working with the light snow better than this heavy stuff.

I almost got stuck in the driveway yesterday after using the snow blower to clear the snow. But the road trucks came through wed night and initially I was able to drove over the mess they made. I went out a few times yesterday to use a garden shovel and clear more our. (I got your card today, thanks. I have a plan for yours, just haven't done it yet).

I'd hate to be without a fridge especially at the moment with temperatures in the 30Cs.

It was still working we just couldn't push items towards the back especially on the top shelf. That limited the quantity of items that could be there.
