I have not. I do not have a sentimental bone in my body. I don't like clutter and I don't live in the past.
Now my brother, has every single greeting card he's ever received, his high school letterman's jacket, and a hundred other things from his childhood.

The only things I kept fit into a fairly small box that my sister inadvertently threw away (years ago). A letter from my mother when I was seven, a ring my ten year old self got from a boy I had a crush on, a necklace my dad gave me when I was twelve. What hurts my heart is the letter no longer with me. She didn’t even bother to open that box; she just tossed it. I tell myself it was ultimately a material thing, and no one can take away my memories of my mother.

I'm sorry, Amber. I am sure that really did hurt, to lose that letter.

Not any more. I used to have some toys from my childhood but Pretty threw them away when she was packing everything for the move here. She didn't know they were anything special. I had always packed what to bring with us before this last move. I was working a lot so she did all the packing this last time. *shrug*

I am sentimental and always have been. I don't consider owning a few sentimental items to be owning clutter. I have several items I cherish. One is an incredible manger scene with Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus, that my paternal grandmother brought from the UK many years ago. I have my paternal grandfather's eyeglasses, and his name plate from his desk when he was the lawyer for many years in a bank in Chicago. There are a few other things I cherish from several loved ones, who gave them to me.
I don't live in the past, but I do enjoy these things, and my children and grandchildren love the stories that I have told them about the people connected to these items.
