This is what I like. Tomorrow is the first day of winter, and it’s in the 50s.
Happy summer to our friends in Australia! This will get you dancing, no matter the time of year. Here’s today’s song from the list of things that I think Linda (remember, I did NOT consult with her…as the disdain for that Bee Gees song proves
) would enjoy or think of when it comes to “boogie.”
Boogie Wonderland - Earth, Wind, and Fire
Remember this one? You do…just not by the name. When I was researching the list I saw this song and thought I didn’t know it. Then I played it. Oh, yeah, I remember that.
An interesting thing: remember that I mentioned the movie Looking for Mr. Goodbar the other day? Allee Willis, who wrote the lyrics to this and many other songs (including another Earth, Wind, and Fire hit, “September,” as well as co-writing the theme from Friends, “I’ll Be There for You”), said she was inspired to write this after watching Looking for Mr. Goodbar. I didn’t know that!
I also didn’t make the connection between Willis’ work on this song and the theme from Friends. Willis was quite the accomplished songwriter, having also written one of my favorite Pointer Sisters songs, “Neutron Dance.”
Earth, Wind, and Fire had a reputation for making you dance, so enjoy moving to this one!
Boogie Wonderland
Written by Allee Willis and Jon Lind
Recorded by Earth, Wind, and Fire
From I Am, 1979

Yes indeed! Funny that it's remembered for being in Caddyshack, along with Al playing Journey's "Anyway You Want It" on the radio in his golf bag.

Caddyshack was popular when he was younger and he watched it umpteen times, I am not surprised he made that connection because of that. But yes, it is weird it's remembered for that. I remember some of that movie, but not all of it.

I had to hear it to remember it, because I didn't remember it by name.
