WOW! Too Much Noise!

I was watching a new dinosaur video on YT, wearing my headphones, when music started blasting and drowned the video out! I went to Pretty's bedroom and asked if that was something she was watching and she said it was coming from OUTSIDE the house!
Apparently, the neighbor's kids and grandkids are here for Christmas and one of them HAD to turn their stereo up and blast something across the neighborhood.
We don't say anything when they do that during the summer. We usually leave the house for a few hours and they're quiet-ish when we come home. But it's 40F outside and I don't want to get dressed and find someplace to go to get away from their noise tonight.
I stepped out on the front porch and grandpa told them to turn it down. Some people have no respect for others! It's after 10 pm!

That was so disrespectful of them. It's one reason I don't like to live in the city or inside towns. Sometimes, you still get some noise out here, but we avoid the loud dog barking, music, etc. Those parents and grandparents are at fault too for allowing it. Wow. Hope they don't do it again.

I would have called the police if it had kept going. I think it was the parents, not the kids, playing the loud music.

@noni1959 I slept well, thank you. Everything was quiet after grandpa told them to turn the music off.

It's a city ordnance that no loud music is allowed after 10 pm.

@JudyEv The ordinance here says no noise before 8 am and after 10 pm. We can't mow lawns before that or play music after that unless there's a concert in the city park.

@DaddyEvil I don't think we have that here but maybe we do.

You just had one incident.
Here, a lot of marriages and Festival Events happen from November to February.
Leave alone 10 PM, we get to hear loud music from far and wide even after 12 Midnight.
Sometimes when people object, some make excuses in the name of religion but that is really a lame excuse.
Others say do not object to celebrations for such and such people and so on...
It all shows personal ethics and morals and disrespect for other people.

It's a city-wide ordnance which is basically law that no noise can be made for any reason between 10 pm and 8 am for any reason. People can and will call the police if you make noise between those times and the police can and will arrest you for it.
People can make noise if they want outside of those times.

No, we like them. If they hadn't turned the music down, I would have called the police on them, though. Especially that late at night.

@DaddyEvil - I once yelled at my gf's former neighbors that if they're going to play loud music, to play real music. They actually stopped.

After 8 am and until 10 pm we have to put up with it but it's illegal in our city outside of those times.

@aureliah Some people just don't care and will be perverse unless they're forced by law to keep quiet.

Oh, ugh. That reminds me of my dad’s neighbors. They are great people, just absolutely fantastic. But about 10 years ago they let their son and his rock band practice every weekend in their garage WITH the door open. It was so wretched. My parents were willing to keep their mouths shut, but the people across the street were absolutely not. When a simple conversation didn’t fix it, the police were called.
I am very glad the grandpa had enough sense to turn it down. That’s so rude.

We normally just leave for a while and then come back to relative peace.
I agree, if it had gone on much longer, I would have called the police right there so they could see me doing it.

I'm glad he told them to turn it down. I would have called the police for a noise violation otherwise.

Did they turn it down?
See, even in a house and not an apartment you still get disrespect.
Sorry to know it.

@DaddyEvil - It's anyway annoying, even if they are young, they should respect the others more.

Thank you. It happens too often during the summer, too. But they're in the back yard then and we can't hear it so loudly.

They usually have a radio going in the back yard during the summer. I can't hear that in my bedroom. This was from their truck yesterday. They opened the doors and turned the stereo up as loud as it would go.

They did. I would have thought they knew better, too. They're here every summer, all summer long. Usually in the back yard, though, where I don't have to hear them.

Grampa? Is that a neighbor. Sorry you had to put with that noise. I so dislike rude neighbors. I am glad we have rules here. It's very quiet.

That's pretty good! I'm glad they stopped.
