Almost got run over by a car

I was walking home from the train yesterday. Part of the walk involves going past a shopping plaza. Plenty of times the cars that pull out of the plaza tend to do so at faster speeds and don’t pay attention to potential pedestrians walking on the sidewalk. That can end badly. And it could’ve ended badly for me yesterday.
Walking along the sidewalk I stopped to see if any cars are exiting the plaza. I also made sure the traffic light for those cars was a solid red. Everything was good so I continued walking.
All of a sudden I noticed a car exiting out of the plaza at a fast speed. Apparently the guy didn’t see me as he was driving straight at me. I came to a stop and the guy slammed hard on the brakes. The guy could’ve run me over and had the audacity to honk at me so I move out of the way. What the hell! I had the right of way.
Not the first time something like this happened to me. Seems installing the traffic light at the plaza exit doesn’t do anything to make it safer for pedestrians.

I was walking today and a car was pulling out of the plaza (different exit) and didn’t stop till it was right near me.

@porwest it’s scarier to walk there during the day than walk in the dark.

I'm glad you didn't get hit. I would have gotten the guy's license plate number.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LENA!!!!!

I hate when people honk for no reason or because they are impatient.

If there's a traffic camera, take note of the guy's license plate and call in a complaint about him next time or anyone else that is driving dangerously. (Take a picture of the license plate so you can send that along with his information when you complain.)

Definitely. There were times when I was walking and cars would turn right in front of me instead of stopping to let me cross.
